  1. (instead of scolding people online,) I have heard myself really famous keertanis (who I don't wish to name) swearing backstage. I couldnt listen to their kirtan the same again.
  2. I'm not an expert, but If it doesn't look like you just got a fresh cut, then im pretty sure its acceptable. Kes = Uncut hair. You just have to be at the amrit sanchaar with your five kakaars. Kes/Keski Kanga kara Kirpan Kachera Just go to the amrit sanchaar, if the Panj pyare agree then they let you . If they do deny you then it is probably because they think you need to practice and keeping your hair for longer, but I think thats unlikely. Elderly people become Amritdhari all the time. Most of them are bald. Other people I know also have hair loss problems. Oh yeah, and if you do happen to die early, it is said that one who truly had the wish of receiving amrit before they passed, they are born again in an amritdhari family and are given another chance.
  3. What is even more ridiculous is that I'm hearing Indian media published this photo and claimed they were images released by the French authorities of the actual terrorists. I have to confirm this though, heard it on the radio
  4. Don't know the exact details, but it is a battle of the Hindu Gods. From what I understand heres a quick summary (minus all of the awesome description of the battlefield): Demons have taken over kingdoms of other gods and are threatning the kingdom of Indra and so Indra goes to Durga to get help. Durga agress and starts a battle to reclaim the kingdoms in which she slays a whole bunch of demons and defeats them. Second Battle - Demon Commanders Sumbh and Nisumbh try to attack the kingdoms again, so Indra calls Durga for backup. Durga devastates the demons and wins. Sranvat Beej leads the demon army into another battle. Every time a drop of his blood hits the ground, more demons pop up. Durga is now struggling to kill them all, so she calls Kali for backup. Everytime Durga attacked, Kali would catch the blood on her tongue before more demons respawn. They destroy the whole demon army, and kill Sumbh/Nisumbh. Indra gets the kingdom back. This might not be the most accurate summary, but I think it explains it pretty well. Otherwise I think you can listen to katha on youtube Does anyone here know the maryada for Chandi Dee Vaar and when you are/not supposed to read? I read it alot and I don't want to be making any mistakes
  5. How do we stop these fascist type people? They really piss me off but I look in front of me and theres no one to punch in the face.
  6. He didn't do it because he wanted to look handsome . He cut it because he thought it would be very difficult to go into hiding with dastaar. Although I don't support him in removing his kes, but he was actually fighting for panth and rather than the ones who remove their kes because they want the ladies. I understand why he did, but still don't support that decision he made.
  7. I think most of you guys here didn't even read it or understand it.It doesn't mean non-violence or ahimsa If your to lazy to read anything then here it is in a simple video if you can't read long articles It doesn't mean non-violence or ahimsa. When someone is shooting at you, according to the non aggression principle you are allowed to shoot them until there is no more threat to you. Force is justified when someone is using force against you. Same with the government thugs. Meaning that in a revolution from an oppressive government, force is justified But you NEVER intiate or start the fight yourself
  8. Do you agree with the non aggression principle? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-aggression_principle
  9. i seriously do not understand how Modi is on the global trending list almost every other day
  10. Panjabi Sikhs need to do everything they can to avoid another armed conflict in Panjab and repeat other mistakes we made in the past. Badal said the current situation in Panjab is like the 90s, and he will treat it like the 90s (insurgency). Be careful. I'm pretty sick of all those "khalistani" activists sitting their butts here in western countries who are constantly pushing for another war. They don't even realise how many people, (not just sikhs) will die if it turns violent. We can all be chardikala and give shaheedian, but who will take care of the panth and make sure that we actually win against the government? I support using arms only once non violence has been completely exhausted, like Guru Gobind Singh Jee said in Zafarnamah. (Forgive language)
  11. Have some Singhs do a Gatka performance! Then instead of a dance off, challenge your guests to a fight with a soti or a lathi.
  12. Forget about Kohinoor. It is a material object with material value. We should focus our efforts on all the priceless historical books, documents letters, and even centuries old SGGS saroops that all went missing in Operation Blue Star 1984. That was a much larger part of our history, and now it is missing. We should be asking for those things back instead which were looted from the Sikh Reference Library. Its just a diamond, it has a pricetag. But that library was a priceless khajana of knowledge and history
  13. I can already imagine the stage secretary guy saying: "Sangat Jee, has new breastfeeding room has been planned, but we need at least $500k more to ensure it is of top quality. With Guru Jee's kirpa, it should take minimum five years to complete to build this room. You can write your checks to the right after you exit the darbar hall. WJKK WJKF"
  14. Harjit Singhs a great guy. I've seen him at a local gurdwara a few times. Wish him luck, and hope he keeps the name of Sikhs high, and doesn't bend over to the dirty politicians
  15. Its just very hard for me to understand. Talwinder Singh Parmar is celebrated as a great shaheed here in Surrey they even had a float on Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan with his picture and other kharku's pictures. This got the attention of the media and they repeated the headline "Air India Mastermind Celebrated as Martyr in Parade" on all the TVs and papers. I read the book Soft Target (highly recommend this book). On page 101, it says he was at Old Weston Gurdwara Sahib and he said "If Sikhs don't recognize a leader when they see one, how stupid can they be?". The sangat got very angry and challenged him with their kirpans to fight to prove he is a good leader. Talwinder Singh fled from a back door and he even left his shoes. Apparently he was a very egotistical guy. And then there are the other guys invovled. Ripudaman Singh Malik is the only one of them I have actually met a couple of times in person. I don't wanna ask him though because I don't know him very well and im afraid of what hes gonna say. He has a pretty nice car though lol.
  16. Just something to remember- Bhai Satwant Singh Shaheed had said in their final speech "I have no hatred for any Hindu, Muslim, Christian, neither hatred for any religion. After my Shaheedi, let no Sikh throw any rock at any Hindu. I am not in favour of any retaliation or bloodshed over my Shaheedi. If we do create bloodshed, then there is no difference between us and Rajiv Gandhi." Yes, some people did attack Hindus. We cannot deny that. But it isn't on the scale that the government says it to be where they claim there was a genocide of hindus in panjab. Ask any of these people who call us terrorists - Did any Kharku leader (for example Jathedar Sukhdev Singh, Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal, Bhai Avtar Singh Brahma) ever commit or encourage killings of Hindus? No because they fought the police forces and Sikhs do not kill innocents. Oh, and I also created a thread a while ago about Air India 1985 http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/77072-air-india-flight-182-bombing/ Although I'm still puzzled by this case. There is almost no evidence to prove anything.
  17. They were False Flags https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_flag False flags have happened numerous times in history, such as when the Nazis set fire to their own Reichstag building and blamed it on a young communist so that Hitler could get more power and justify arresting the communists around the country. Read this article of a known "black cat" police officer http://www.sikhfreedom.com/how-the-singhs-punished-gobind-ram It isn't a "conspiracy theory". Its true. https://www.sikh24.com/2011/09/26/human-rights-abuses-in-punjab-exposed-by-wikileaks/#.VjgVaGsaHx8 Also remember that if a person knowingly kills innocents then they aren't a Sikh because they do not follow the Gurus. The people who killed couldn't have been Sikhs because we are the ones who feed these same people in Langar at Gurdwaras so why would we kill them?
  18. I think we need to change this whole jathedar system. We need multiple panj piare to have control. There should be Panj piare as the "jathedars" for each takht. This way it will be better because it is harder to infiltrate our takhts . Its more difficult to pay off 25 men than only 5. The leaders will also have different viewpoints, but it can lead to further separation and arguements within the panth. add another option of changing the system
  19. Here you Go! Giani Gurdev Singh Jee. Anand Sahib - one of my favourite tracks on my phone Bhai Parminder Singh's videos
  20. Guru Gobind Singh Jee had worn a kalgi because they were "Badshah Darvesh Guru Gobind Singh" and King of all Kings. Guru Sahib did not have any ego and was not showing off. All kings wore kalgis at that time. Since some of the Gurus sahiban wore kalgis, out of respect we shouldn't wear a kalgi. Only kings wear kalgis, so we should be humble and come infront of Guru Sahib, and not show that you are also a king. Nowadays if a person wears a kalgi (for whatever reason), it usually shows that they have a lot of pride and ego. (Forgive any mistakes WJKK WJKF) edit - some singhs wear something called a farla which is a bit similar but has different meaning
  21. I think maybe Guru Sahib is sacrificing themselves in order to wake up Sikhs. You should see how many are going against the SGPC, Badal, Jathedars etc.. Guru Sahib wants the Khalsa to wake up and take control once again. I find it crazy that most gurdwarey still do not have pehredaars! Installing cameras in the darbar hall does not fix anything. The camera won't stop an attacker. It just shows us his face after he already did the act. When the first case of the beadbi happened, I thought maybe this kinda stuff just happens we should keep an eye on our gurdwaras. But then the next day I turn on the news, more beadbi .Day after that, even more beadbi happening in Panjab. Then I realized that there is a real problem in our gurdwarey. We don't seem to care that much about Guru Maharaj anymore. A king always has guards. The biggest beadbi itself is that we aren't even guarding our own king! And the police are really useless fat slobs who do nothing but attack us instead. I don't think we can rely on them to catch anyone They will protest during the day, but then they forget and go to sleep? I don't see the logic in that. Its not that hard to just get 2-3 people to stay at a gurdwara for each night. Even if they fall asleep there, It will still help. We shouldn't be asking for foreign intervention from the US, Canada, and UK. First of all - they don't give a crap. Secondly, they are also working with the Indian Government. And third - the last thing we need is CIA , airstrikes, and everything that comes in the package of the US interventionist foreign policy. We need to stop saying "Murke Aaja Bhinderanwaleya" , because we have Guru Sahib and we don't need anyone else. All of us have the capability to be like Sant Jarnail Singh, so why don't we all become true gursikhs! Oh, and don't forget about Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Jee I admit I almost did
  22. I was reading something that was arguing that Sant Jee didn't become shaheed in 1984 and it said that Because Sant Jee did a lot of simran they did not have a lot of hair. Then they showed a picture of Sant Jees shaheedi saroop and in the picture he is on a block of ice with his kesh open. I think Baba Joginder Singh had said that
  23. inb4 mods come here and lock this thread I recommend you read Tau Kio Murgi Marai (why Kill a Chicken) by Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara. Punjabi and English versions are both available online http://www.vidhia.com/Bhai%20Joginder%20Singh%20Ji%20Talwara/why-kill-a-chicken-english.pdf Are you part of any nihang singh jathebandi/dal/jatha? if so then after reading you should also ask someone knowledgeable on this subject.
