  1. Yes Guru Amar Das Ji called the Yogi "Santokha" and spot where Dome was dug, a gurudwara called "Santokhsar" stands there. Bhai Santokh Ji was originally from previous jug and requested his Guru to give him mukht (or reunite him with God after death). However, this Guru replied I don't have that power, but Guru Nanak will come and give u mukht. So, Bhai ji dug the spot n secluded himself in a dome waiting for Guru Ji.
  2. Don't feel guilty. When I started working out at home I was tying a meter's parna. However, I resorted to patka only a week later as it felt right n appropriate to me. Been a year now since exercising with a single dumbbell. For making muscles visible a healthy diet is a must, so sadly I don't have those muscles, though my strength has grown.
  3. I Never used a hair dryer in life as I guess I believe in the more natural the better. As for beard, be sure to wash with water everyday and don't forget to use either soap or shampoo at least twice a week on it. Soap's better as shampoo hardens it. Apply oil once in a while. Ideally after wash n not before.
  4. Maybe combing the hair before wash may help? And combing the hair twice a day as it is in rehat anyways but could reduce the tangles.
  5. YES! Keep a spare kanga in pocket and every two hours or so use it to comb the sides of dhari WHEREEVER YOU ARE! Within a week u will pick up the habit. Only 2 problems, one is u may feel shy if in public and the other, u may feel about kesh falling on the floor so no satkar to the fallen hair. However if u can somehow over come these problems (there are ways) within a month u should notice your beard remains down and straight.
  6. OMG! Even his voice is young. I'd say more rasswale awaaz in his old age... LOL the Damdami Taksaal leaders had a pure hard/ gruffed up voices like Sant Gurbachan Singh, Bhinderawale. When they speak... nobody dare argues.
  7. Sadly, no. It's in rehat to study them but no... we can even view majority scriptures online but still don't get around to it.
  8. Sounds like u need to focus the mind from distractions? First of all, do 7 baanias with a full concentration you will notice a minor positive effect in 2 days time only. Start listening to katha on yt. I would recommened Giani Takhur Singh ji. At same time do one maala of Mool Mantar minimum every single day (108 mool mantar). Build it up to 216 mool mantars followed by 4 Japji Sahibs (with concentration) ALL this should take roughly 1 hour 15 mins. I too blamed hi tech for stealing away the time at one point. However, this isn't true. 1 hour 15 mins is just a build up (with concentration) then the other hours? u can watch footy, go on forums, play on console and not blame hi tech or internet that time is wasted. A rookie at the gym won't lift 50kg first day. They start from 12.5kg then go up 15kg... then 20kg within a month... 25kg within 2 months. All of a sudden that 15kg they couldn't lift? becomes their lightest weight to start with new exercise n hitting new muscle groups. SAME principles apply for naam jap, a rookie won't do more than 4 hours a day. If they do it's unlikely to carry on everyday. Then they find it heavy n give up. Build it up. Take out the time to build up Rehat and time. Once u start u will automatically focus.
  9. Don't worry too much about it. In your case I'd recommened love marriage and not arranged. I been married to my wife over a year now. Although she took Amrit b4 marriage she revealed to me only two weeks ago that she's a Radha Swami ? (not that I give a shi)- But will write a blog on that another time. YES 5 Singhs gave n prepared the Amrit, YES 5 baania were done and YES all done in front of SGGS. YES the Dera she visited when young teaches translations from SGGS ONLY. Back to point, a love marriage for Amritdhari means dating someone WITHOUT kissing or sleeping with them. THAT happens after Anand Karaj. Means calling them to get to kno em better. A decision should be made in 6 months to a year. After a year's pushing it. U need love marriage, not arranged.
  10. Fateh all! Just me contemplating here. When I was young, parents were like "If you say waheguru, u are blessed. If u fail to say waheguru, u go to hell" (ok ignore the quote marks). Today I ask... why am I Amritdhari? why do I have kirpa n knowledge of Baania plus naam jaap? Am I doing it for a reason or just for you? heck, why am I even writing this here? why are u reading this? DK about u but... maybe am doing what am currently doing is to NOT fall in hell? At least we see animals suffer (84 lakh joon) but what goes on in hell? At 17 after taking Amrit I was old enough to not worry about hell. I read far too many biographs (like, two or three) and was inspired by bios to take Amrit. With kirpa my Sikhi is getting stronger by the day. But what then? will Waheguru see me after life "Shabaaz puth! ehne paat padleh aja hun, tera heaven wich saer karieh." Then I think it's about the future, setting Sikhi seeds here on the planet. Maybe my aim is to have a gist of Brahmgiani? maybe one day I will become a Brahmgiani and spread the word of God, just like Baba Nand Singh, Sant Kartar Singh, Sant Gurbachan Ji did? Maybe am TRULY doing this not to fall in hell, get beaten, burnt and stabbed in the arse? Maybe am doing all this to prove Sikhi is best compared to other religion? Maybe am Sikhi just to pass the time? Whatever the reason only we know why we chose Sikhi and follow it. I do have a plan and will follow it. This plan involves to learn, whatever I do I enforce on myself, NEVER to consider other religions low and slander other religions and to maintain a good discipline in my Nitnem as well as maryaad. I believe something excellent will happen. Maybe am scared of not being reunited with God this life? maybe I no longer fear falling in hell (and get stabbed up the arse) but fear of dejection is now great? Who knows!
  11. Learn kirtan from ANYWHERE but! The more u practice the better you will become at kirtan. TAKE SANTHIA (Or sankhia) Proper pronunciation is a MUST. Santhia from Lareevar SGGS is recommended instead of Paad-shed. Ideally the teacher should be from Taksaal like former student. If possible do santhia 25 times. A lot of practice, a lot of mehnat you'll b going places.
  12. GOOD LUCK! My aim is to read whole of Dasam Granth. Started from 1st ang gotta make it count init?
  13. Good point! would I? Naaah am in attachment. I'd b like "Koi na puth! kes fir a jao ge." Of course Kartar Singh parents were, I would imagine, no longer alive or didn't know what was going on as mobile phone didn't exist back then plus not all households had landline. But whether they were around or not Sant Kartar Singh was at a Brahmgian stage. Sikhi was EVERYTHING to him. Brahmgians wholly detach worldly things. We can only dream of reaching such stages.
  14. Too much of anything is bad for u. Milk twice a day can cause problems, red meat across 7 days can cause disbiosis even broccoli everyday can be harmful! So if a natural plant can cure then TAKE IT! BUT REMEMBER... Too much of anything will backfire.
  15. In 1976 Bhinderwale started opposing her asking for Sikh rights. Roughly 8 year battle it was. However, Gandhi wasn't the only player. As a PM their were more people within the system brainwashing her against Bhinderwale (maybe Sikhs too). BUT YES! All decisions were at her behest. That is also the truth. There was no need for an army. She was clearly mislead "Bhinderwale is threatening innocents in Darbar sahib, now" (obviously none of it true)... her instigators hated the idea of Sikhs having equal rights along with Hindus. If Gandhi did her own homework maybe she could've made a few right choices. Like confront Bhinderawale herself and see if he makes reasonable demands. But no PM will ever do that. Anyways, Bhinderwale gave ideas, she never paid attention n other Govt got involved brainwashing her. She made wrong (and daen wale) decisions.
  16. It's the Lord's way of installing in our heads "don't b stupid and slander." I mean I kno we all do it but what's important? Guru's words or our own minds? Instead of slandering that time can b used on other important stuff i.e. meditating or painting. Why slander? slander is a sin as it DOES have an impact on others. Sometimes the way we treat or greet people may b different if we learn a thing or two about them. They may not even be that way! We just relied on wha sum1 told us about that person. Sins are kind of "I can forgive but not forget!" meaning in your next life expect a punishment (if not this life)..
  17. AH! being hardcore like that isn't for everyone. The more meditation, bania, sangat, simran and seva one does the easier it becomes to understand things better.
  18. Fairly new. Unfortunately not all Gursikhs are hardcore hard sikhs. Only Sant Kartar Singh was, who accepted death instead of an operation where some hair removal would've been inevitable.

    Let's face it

Anonymous Ji! It appears you're a sophisticated person with high principles n values and u aim for perfection. One recommendation, is there a gym near your house? maybe opt for that? It may cost ya but it's something I guess.
  20. Yes Taksali Rehraas starts off with "Har jug jug bhagt upaaia" whereas Hazoori's starts off with another shabd from Asa d waar, plus has many more tukhts from Dasam Granth that Taksali doesn't contain. Then another Rehraas starts "Dukh daru sukh rog bhia" and doesn't have Chartirpakyon's final tukht nor any other Dasam Granth's bania (shortest Rehraas Sahib).
  21. About roughly 11 yrs from now Bhai Harcharan Singh Ji visited our Gurudwara and gave a speech regarding 1984 attacks. They later sat in sangat, in close range to me. Few mins later I got up to leave... Today I regret not saying Fateh to him! IDK why, I kinda felt santokh just seeing him far. OH! The opportunity t at least go up n say fateh... GONE!
  22. When it comes to concentrating on Bani there are various ways to do this. One way is focusing on translation so u speak and mind translates what u read (probably best way). Another method is u read and mind picturises each word. A great way to let the imagination go, maybe grey coloured fonts with a purple / pearly looking background? manage the background without changing it (we wanna concentrate on Gurbani, not anything else) or just blackness with golden big fonts. So let's say u recite "Namastua(ng) Akale Namastua(ng) Kripale," u can imagine these 4 words popping up one by one, one after the other. A third method is imagining what u read come to life. So "Sau dr tera kia so ghar kia, jit beh srb smbale" maybe u imagine yourself standing b4 a golden door n gain entry. "Waje tere naad anek asankha, kithe tere gawanhare" now u imagine many souls doing kirtan in praise of the lord. Then u imagine Dharmraj, Brahma and Shiv praising the lord in the darbaar etc... Jatte satte (pure male / female) etc. Have an experiment to see what suits u when concentrating on Gurbani. HOWEVER! It is mandatory to learn translations of Gurbani! Imagination and materialising words in head is effective when wanna do gurbabi at a faster pace. First priority, learn translation until u know 7 baanias translation word by word. As for kirtan when listening to it and concentrating, kirtanias play waja, sing, play waja (I believe u call this khali)? THEM PLAYING WITHOUT singing is a chance for YOU to concentrate on what they just sang! Sing along in your mind if not loud and try to focus on wha is being sung! Bhul chuk maaf
