  1. The Gurdwaras with all their money should be doing more. Why can't they set up a hostel accommodation like the Churches do for those in this situation. The larger ones have plenty of houses. The Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Southall has 5-6 houses in Hammond Road which are mostly empty. Not everyone who is in this situation is addicted to drugs or an alcoholic. If not hostel accommodation then why not place where they can shower and wash their clothes.
  2. It is more to do with a power struggle between the Takht committee and the Jathedar. Both are in the wrong, the committee for making an announcement without agreement with the Jathedar and the Jathedar is in the wrong for making an issue of it at the time rather than waiting and asking for an explanation after the Gurpurab was over. Both are mahants showing that they have the chaudhar in a place where one should have humility.
  3. Most of this is Muslim propaganda from the internet and which is then picked up or spoon fed to lazy journalists who the write stories about converts which gives the impression that Islam is growing among the white population. Recently the 2011 census results on religion were released for England and Wales. These show that the number of white Muslims in 210,620. Although this number appears large but you have to take into account that there are tens of thousands Turks and Kosovans and Albanians in the UK who classify themselves as white.. The real figure for white converts is shown by those Muslims who classify themselves as White British, White Irish and White Irish Traveler who in 2001 were 64,797 and increased to 79,564 in 2011. Hardly a massive increase given all the Muslim dawa both on the internet and on the streets. Add to this the constant barrage of propaganda from the media and government about how great and peaceful Islam is! For the Sikh figures those classed as white showed a slight decrease from 7,509 in 2001 to 7,460 in 2011. The fact that there are 7,460 white Sikhs in the UK when there is no active parchar shows that there is a great potential if we start to do active parchar among the white community. Incidentally the number of Pakistani Sikhs went from 382 in 2001 to 3,283 in 2011. Although this figure might be boosted by the migration of some Afghani Sikhs who have Pakistani passports but still it shows Sikhism is growing among the Pakistan community as well. Among Bangladeshis there are 672 Sikhs in 2011 up from 116 in 2001, Chinese Sikhs were 1,019 in 2011 up from 88 in 2001. Black African/Caribbean Sikhs were 1,431 in 2011 up from 633 in 2001.
  4. Any objective analysis of MMS will show that he was a complete failure for his own community. He was chosen because he was the most suitable to play the role of a puppet for the Gandhis. Sonia Gandhi could never be PM as so she chose a puppet that she could control and MMS has played his role very well. His most recent statement shows just how insensitive and devoid of reality this puppet has become. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/UPA-has-done-quite-a-lot-for-Sikh-victims-of-1984-riots-PM/articleshow/28334673.cms Even the non-Sikhs on the comments page are aware that he has not given the Sikhs any justice. It looks like people are tried of that puppet and want his gone as soon as possible. Good riddance in my view.
  5. Not really a new year's resolution, I started dieting and got my BMI down from 28.6 which is overweight to 24.2 which is classed as healthy within 3 months. All I did was cut down on snacks, eat two square meals a day and have have two fruits for lunch. Breakfast should be either a bowl of porridge or two pieces of wholemeal bread as toast with some low fat spread and cucumber/tomato and some sweetcorn. Dinner was 3 rotis and dal/sabzi etc. I also did regular walking each day about 5 miles a day on weekdays and 10 miles at weekends. In three months I went from 99 kg down to now 84 kg. That's about 15 stone 8lbs down to 13 stone 3lbs
  6. It's all window dressing. The Pope is more of a CEO of a powerful but corrupt company with billions under his control.
  7. Why invite an animal like Nitesh who does not know how to behave in a religious place? It is the fault of the Gurdwara committee for inviting politicians in the first place.
  8. The guy is innocent until proven guilty. I thought you would have learnt some lessons from the last time you claimed that Bagri was guilty of the Air India bombing and should be hung! It's not beyond the FBI to stitch someone up just to get on the good books of India. Surprising how this came about after the police in the US arrested that Indian female monkey diplomat and gave her a cavity search! Maybe the arrest of the Singh is to make up for the outrage in India.
  9. The Jagmeet Singh poster was posted on the Sikhs against EDL site as proof that Sikhs and Muslims have great relations!! If Jagraj Singh chooses to use the unsubstantiated story of Guru Ki Maseet in his parchar then that is his choice. Even if the Maseet story is true then why don't we see Guru Ki Maseets in all the towns that the Gurus founded. Is there such mosques in Amritsar, Goindwal, Kartarpur-Ravi, Anandpur Sahib, Kiratpur Sahib? Had this been a wide spread practice then just as each Gurdwara has a langar then each Gurdwara would have had a maseet next door built by Sikhs for the use of Muslims. You talk about moderate Islam and moderate Imams! You are well and truly suckered by Islamic propaganda. The interesting thing about the Quilliam foundation is that the British convert whose name they use had beliefs exactly in line with the very extremists that the foundation claims to counter! Watch this debate and you will realise that Maajid Nawaz of Quilliam Foundation's only argument in the end is that if non-Muslims accept that Islam is not a religion of peace the Muslims will then have no alternative but to get violent!!!
  10. Essentially where reason that the Sikhs lost out both in 1849 and in 1947 was demographics. Had the Sikhs been the majority in Punjab in 1849 then the British would never have been able to subdue the Khalsa and if they did win a few battles the Punjab would have been ungovernable for them and then there would have been mutiny in 1857. The article is true in one aspect, the Punjab Muslims got a country gifted to them by the British without any effort but then the British also gifted the rest of the India to the Brahmin elite. Where Maharaja Ranjit Singh failed was that he did not utilise the decade of relative peace from 1829 to 1839 to look to the future and make the state that he had created into a permanent entity. Had the Anglo-War war not happened in 1845 and the Sikh state been able to keep the British at bay for another 50 years say into 1899 then the British would never have annexed it even had there been a war at that time. There is every possibility that the state would have replicated what the Japanese had done and become an industrial power. Given the existence of this state then when the British would have left India then they would left it exactly how they found it. The Princely states would have become independent and the British provinces also would probably have become independent or at the very least a loose confederation. The Sikh states south of the Sutlej would have been in an interesting position. They could either have merged together to become an independent state or merged with the Lahore state. The East Punjab districts which were British possession such as Ferozpur, Ludhiana and Ambala which had a Sikh population of 33% would have gone into the merger. So in the alternate history had the Lahore state survived the Sikhs in 1947 would have stood tall on the world stage having a 150 year of state at Lahore becoming stronger by the merging of the eastern part of the Punjab into it.
  11. The Gurbachan Singh guy has now lost so much credibility and his u-turns especially his stabbing the Panth in the back every time are now legendary. If anything the press note may be a damage limitation exercise after the way that many Sikhs have declared that he should be sacked.
  12. What a joke! You get that sentence for murder not for wounding! Obviously Cameron has told the judge that they need to please India in order to get the next defence contract.
  13. Here's where the dumba$$ Dawah man's mentor getting caught lying like a typical Muslim. He knows of the 'rhetorical' devices in words in the Quran but he's doesn't speak Arabic
  14. The Dawah man is a fool. Here is the dumba$$ trying to ask a question from a professor.
  15. I don't think even the Dawah man knows. Such fools are sent on the streets and rely on peoples' ignorance to impress them. One of the so called literacy miracles of the Quran is that in the verse there are grammatical shift which include changes in person, addressee, change in tense etc. So when the person speaking says I in one place, WE further down the verse and HE later on means that this is a miracle and not shoddy editing! The reason this is a miracle is that no other or very few other Arabic literature contains these ...er mistakes!
  16. This is a great step by the Akal Takht. It is interesting that as soon as a decision is made, people will start to criticising it. There is nothing in the Hukumnama which stop monas from taking part in sewa or any functioning of the Gurdwara apart from taking a leadership role in the committee. Patit does mean someone who has broken their rehat but sabut soorat means that the committee members should at least be Keshdharis.
  17. The main Jaat HIndu organisation, the Jaat Mahasabha was started by the Arya Samaj. The Arya Samaj was successful in bringing the Hindu Jaats within it's fold in Rajasthan, UP and South Eastern Punjab (now Haryana).
  18. The 1930s and early 1940s was a great time for Sikhi parchar. The resources of the Gurdwaras had been taken from the corrupt Mahants and the SGPC and Nankana Sahib estate were seting up parchar centres in many places outside Punjab, Apart from the Ambedkar near conversion there was also mass conversions in UP and South India. I was reading a book which quoted a caste Hindu's letter sent to the congress complaining about the lakhs of lower caste Hindus who were becoming Sikhs in UP. As for the Hindu Jaats there is nothing surprising in that some may be interested in becoming Sikhs. In the 1920s the editor of Sir Chottu Ram's newspaper was a Hindu Jaat who had converted to Sikhism. In 1931 thousands of Pachhada Jats in Moradabad in UP registered themselves as Sikhs in the census of that year. In fact had it not be the alternative offered by joining the Arya Samaj, it is probable that a lot of Hindu Jaats would have become Sikhs just as the Hindu Jats of Punjab had done.
  19. The video cuts off just before the baby adds 'hu akbar' and blows a whole lot of Shias up!
  20. Thanks for injecting a bit of rationality into this thread! Let's not get into the same habit as Muslims who need such daily fixes of nonsense videos to keep them firm in their faith.
  21. I heard the Singh Sabha was responsible for the Kennedy assassination. I also heard that Giani Ditt Singh was the second shooter on the grassy knoll! Lee Harvey Oswald was a sanatan Sikh who was used as a patsy by the Singh Sabha. They hated Kennedy because he was catholic and they were protestant influenced Sikhs!
  22. Scumbags like Cameron and Harper choose their fights carefully. Sri Lanka is a small country and already coming into the Chinese sphere of economic influence. So losing the Sri Lankan market is not a big deal for Cameron or Harper and this can be rationalised given that they will receive Tamil votes in the next election. Add this to their winning brownie points with India by towing the Indian line and criticising the human rights abuses. The amusing thing is that the muppet who publishes the so-called Sikh directory after placing Sonia's chumcha Manmohan Singh as the most powerful Sikh then presented Cameron with an award for recognition of services rendered to the Sikh community!
  23. The Sikh farmer migration to Georgia was discussed here before but here is an interesting photo essay on the subject. http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/11/13/sikh-farmers-in-stalins-birthplace/
