  1. http://www.richmondandtwickenhamtimes.co.u..._passengers.php 'Taliban' cabby attacks passengers Comment A man suffered stab wounds after being attacked by a knife-wielding taxi driver after a heated exchange during a pick up in Hounslow The incident happened when the 21-year-old victim and two other passengers got into a taxi around 5pm on Sunday, July 29. During a row, the taxi driver shouted in a rage: "I'm a Taliban and I hate you bloody Sikhs! before he plunged a Stanley knife into the victim's neck and forearm A bystander who witnessed the attack raised the alarm and six police cars and and an ambulance arrived at the scene minutes later. According to the witnesses, the assailant ran away from the scene but was caught by poilce and handcuffed. He was arrested and bailed pending further enquiries. The victim was taken to hospital and received four stitches for the gash to his forearm. Anyone with information is urged to contact Hounslow CID on 0208 247 6160/5940.
  2. Ranj, Before commenting on something that you clearly have no knowledge of, please make yourself aware of what is happening around us. It might you live in the outer hebrides or something so you don't have any experiences of Muslims. Also please don't know write in upper case as it's like your shouting. Where shall I begin? Let's analyse your post. No one is asking that you follow what the leaflets or sms advise you to do. If you want to shop at your local halal cum grocery shop then that's up to you. Although rather than considering these sms and leaflets as something to feel sick about I would think that they are serving a good purpose. I would equate them to givernment heath warnngs given the level of cleansiness in these shops or as one environmental heath officer told the newspapers recently, one such shop was the worst that he had seen in all the 20 years he had been in his job. If you want to shop at one of their shops then go ahead and take you life in your hands. Just don't come crying on this forum asking for desi remedies when you get the runs! Dancing Warrior wrote on another thread that a particular Muslim business man in Southall is involved in extremist activities and finances Muslim gangs. If Sikhs and using his businesses and enriching him aren't Sikhs being foolish by doing this? Where you see hate in these sms others see education and spreading awareness. Since most Muslims give their zakat donations, if the newsreports of so-called muslim 'charities' are to be believed some end up financing terrorist organisations. So when your peckish and nip into a Muslim shop for a chocolate bar then chances are that your 45p will probably go towards blowing someone up! I know it's an extreme example but it's possible. Have you considered that you are seeing the end result of the targetting and the brainwashing and not the beginning. How much effort and money has gone into the targetting before these girls are draped over these guys? If anything rather than the defeatist attitude you've brought here such things should be making you rethink your views. I'm glad that you said NEARLY all religions, since Islam teaches Muslims that they must HATE for the sake of their religion. So there you have it not only is it rare but it's nearly always self inflicted. Case closed and now we can all stick our heads in the sand knowing everything is right with the world lol. Just to make your ignorant views more forceful you introduce the 'fact' that Sikhs are also doing the same thing. You really have your head stuck up your backside if you think people won't challenge that comment. So come on tell us about a case where a Sikh has targetted a Muslim girl in order to convert her.
  3. There's not much more that anyone can add to the great advice that you have been given by the other members. I hope your mother recovers soon and back to her normal self.
  4. I don't think you can blame the corrupt leadership for this, Badal, Sarna and Akal Takht Jathedar have already backed off, it is the masses that are taking the agitation forward. The current agitation isn't just about some fool dressing up like Guru Gobind Singh, it is about the encroachment of deras into Sikhi. The fool's act has been the catalyst but now it is about something bigger. Already the fall out has been that DSS has lost a lot of followers in Malwa, other deras like Nurmahalias are walking on eggshells because they know any untoward act from them will probably result in an agitation against them as well. The Nurmahalias have just cancelled their annual convention and this from a dera that would waste no opportunity to bait Sikhs. There are signs that even well established deras like Radha Swamis are also in for some heat. Badal recently gave them some acres of land in Mohali and whereas in previous years he would have got away without a murmur from Sikhs, this time around the Spokesman newspaper has started a campaign with the Sikhs of Mohali taking a lead. Chances are Badal will have to rescind his gift. A few days ago the dera at Talwandi Kalan village near Dakha was attacked on a allegation that the dera head had had slapped a woman who had parked her car inside the dera. I've visited the dera previously and it is a hotch potch of udasi and kabirpanthi beliefs and the head calls himself Baba Bhuriwala. The dera wields a great deal of influence in the villages around the area and the fact that it was attacked not by people involved in the DSS agitation but local villagers shows that there is a sea change towards how people view deras in the state. Hence the panic reaction from people like Mr Gupta and other Hindus.
  5. A project by Sikhgiving would be a good idea. There are many Sikhs working in this area so the lack is not of volunteers by funds. Originally some work was done amongst these people by the Nankana Sahib estate prior to 1947. Scottish Sikh Council has been working with them recently and helped finance the building of Gurdwaras in their villages. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/avtar.singh53/ Local organisations working with them are Gurmat Mission, Karnataka Sikh Welfare Association etc. Vanjaras and Sikligars are not the only communities out there that have a connection with Sikhism and need work to strengthen their links with the Sikh mainstream. Below is an articles that lists some of the other tribes. ============== Pachhada Sikhs There are about 400,000 Pachhadas inhabiting mostly the western districts of Uttar Pradesh. Their greatest numbers are in the Moradabad district where some 785 villages are mostly populated by them. They belong to the Jat caste and are differentiated from the Hindu Jats of western U.P. by their names 'Pachhade' ( from the west ) Jats as opposed to the Hindu Jats who are called Deswali ( of this land ) Jats. Their name is a clue to their origins. According to the author of the Gazetteer of the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh ( present U.P ) writing in 1878 these tribes migrated about a hundred years ago into their present areas and settled there. The author also remarks that the language spoken by them is Punjabi and not Hindi. Although the Pachhadas claim that their ancestors came to U.P. during Banda Singh Bahadur's assault on the Mughal power at Saharanpur in 1711, it is possible that given the approximate date given by the Gazetteer that these Sikhs might have migrated during the great famine of 1783, the so-called Chalisa ( 1783 AD was 1840 in Bikrami calendar ). Whatever their date of settlement they are certainly the descendants of Sikhs. Although they do not keep the 5 K's, they like the Banjaras use the Guru Granth Sahib in their ceremonies. During the 1920's and 1930's there was a great desire amongst them to be accepted as Sikhs and between the 1921 and 1931 census the number of Sikhs in the Moradabad jumped from a mere 231 to 20631 due to the Pachhadas of moradabad registering themselves as Sikhs. Unfortunately these Pachhadas reverted back to Hinduism after 1947. Since the 1930's the U.P. Sikh Mission in active in these areas and there has been some success with regard to their reversion back to Sikhism. The Agheri of Sesaram, Bihar These Sikhs are the descendents of the sikh traders who moved from the punjab along the north indian trade routes into UP and bihar during the 1600's. They style themselves as Chacha Phaggu Mal ki sangat, after their ancestor Chacha Phaggu Mal who was the leader of the Sikh sangat at Sesaram during the visit of Guru Tegh Bahadur to the east. They number over a couple of thousands and although they seem to have adopted some hindu rituals and usages yet they are still distinguishable from the native biharis of sesaram. Banjaras of Northern India This tribe is racially the same as the Vanjaras, or Lambadis or southern india and mainly inhabits the western districts of UP ( Rampur, Bijnor and Saharanpur ) and the eastern districts of Rajasthan ( Alwar and Bharatpur ). In uttar pradesh the UP Sikh mission at Hapur has been actively bringing a great number of these people back into mainstream Sikhism. Many banjaras now work as Granthis, Pathis and Ragis in Gurdwaras in their villages. Thorough the SGPC about 30 Gurdwaras have been built in their villages. The Delhi Gurdwara parbandhak committee has a missionary centre at Kishangarh in Alwar district which is also active amongst the Banjaras. The Banjaras of these parts were active in supplying the army of Banda Singh Bahadur during his campaigns in both punjab, haryana and in UP. Sindhis There was a time when to be a non-muslim sindhi was synonomous with being a sehajdhari sikh. During the first decades of this century the Chief Khalsa Diwan of Amritsar sent out missionary groups once a year to Sindh to work amongst the sehajdhari sindhis. Over a period of 30 years with scarce resources this missionary activity resulted in a increase from 1000 keshdhari sindhis in 1901 to over 39,000 in 1941. The bond of the sehajdhari sindhis with sikhism is legendary. Like the Sikhs in Punjab the sehajdhari sikhs of sindhi also left behind their homeland and are now dispersed all over india and abroad. There are about 1.9 million sindhis in Sindh province of pakistan and about 2.5 million in india. Their main pilgrimage centres are Nankana Sahib and Dehra Sahib in Pakistani punjab and Sadh Bela near sukkur in Sindh. Sadh Bela is an udasi shrine built in 1823. Sikhs of tripura There are about 150 families of sehajdhari sikhs in Tripura state of north eastern india. They are the descendents of 70 odd sikh soldiers sent by Guru Gobind Singh to accompany Raja Ratan Rai when he visited the Guru at Anandpur sahib. Sikhs around delhi In 1991 i read an interview of Giani Gurdit Singh of the Kendri Singh Sabha in the sabha's magazine Singh Sabha Patrika. He said that during the time of the sikh assault on delhi in 1781 many sikhs and their families settled in about 125 villages around delhi. He said that with the help of the Kendri Singh Sabha these sikhs are now becoming reacquainted with their sikh heritage and religion. ============
  6. It's amusing when those who claim to know Sikhs and Sikhism usually turn out to be the most ignorant. The thesis presented by Dipankar Gupta is that Sikhs nowadays are more prone to be insecure and more ready to perceive dangers to Sikhism where there are none. This article amongst many others are the products of Hindus who now feel insecure that even though the Indian state has repressed Sikhs for the last two decades that there still remain a significant number of Sikhs still prepared to take to the streets in defence of Sikhism. Nothing has given the Hindus both common and the governmental variety sleepless nights than seeing Sikhs armed with Kirpans marching in the streets, the Hindus paranoia being heightened even more by the occasional shouts of the word 'Khalistan' If your intent is to destroy a nation or a community then you first lull them into a false sense of security, if it is easiers to lull them by appealing to their ego then more the easier. Mr Gupta is wrong when he says that Sikhs in previous generation were not prone to take on threats to Sikhism. What was the Akali movement if it wasn't an attempt to fight the manace of Mahants with pro-Hindu allegences and removing them from the centre of powers, in the Gurdwaras? What of the Kuka Kufr Torh agitation of the early 1940s in which conferences similar to the recent anti-DSS ones were held and the Kuka 'guru' threatened? What also of the anti-Nirankari morcha? As for Kairon, the only reason that the Akal Takht Jathedar did not take action against him was because the Jathedar at the time was the nominee of the Congressi Sikhs who were in control of the SGPC at that time. This is like claiming that Sikhs have no problem with Badal's shenighans because the present Jathedar has not taken any action against him!
  7. The problem is that whatever the antecedents of Dr Rai, at least he STOOD in the elections, while most of the soormey who are laughing at him didn't have the GUTS to stand. I have a lot of respect for Sikh Federation and I think they are doing a lot of good work but even they didn't put anyone forward to stand as an independent. Sarpanch and Gupt11's candidate Tony Lit was an embarrassment. He actually lost the Tories votes! At least Rai went from 0 votes to 275. While Tony Lit went down from the tory vote of 10,147 in 2005 to 8,250 in 2007. This given the fact that Cameron and a host of other Tories were virtually camping in Southall for the election. Rather than recriminations it would be better if all those who stood against Labour work together to make the people of southall aware that Labour has done nothing for the constituency before the general elections.
  8. False alarm! The sanity that seemed to have crept into the thinking of Ali Gomaa was either temporary insanity or he was misquoted. Rather than saying 'it's ok for a Muslim to leave Islam and not face any punishment' he really said 'Any Muslim leaving Islam should be punished' an easy mistake to make!! Top cleric denies 'freedom to choose religion' comment http://archive.gulfnews.com/region/Egypt/10141696.html
  9. It's a good step if they keep to the ruling. The problem is when these sorts of rulings are purely for the western press. Even in a moderate country like Malaysia there have been cases where Muslims have been imprisoned for converting out. The last case was of a Muslim woman who wanted to become a Hindu and she was sent for 6 months to a re-education camp.
  10. India were embarrassing. Relying on the rain to ensure they didn't get beaten. England just needed one more wicket and the way Panesar was playing it was likely he would get the last wicket until the rain came and washed out the last 3 hours of play. Dhoni was the only decent player the rest looked like they were only here on holiday. Panesar got Tendulkar lbw, 2nd time and his bowling out RP Singh put India under the cosh. Although Dhoni played like an <banned word filter activated> in the first innings and was out for a duck. Pietersen was the one who blasted the bowlers, 134 with 14 boundaries.
  11. Are you still one about Gurcharan Singh? Chances are the Tories will ditch him now that they realised that the only 'vote bank' he brought with him to the Tories was just a few family members and a couple of muppets on this forum. Look at the Gurcharan Singh effect, he goes to the Tories and their vote goes down from the last election! This was the Tories best chance of winning in Southall and with all the money power of Tony Lit they managed to lower their vote when in previous elections they never used to bother and yet still get 10,000 odd votes. I hope Cameron ditches Gurcharan and all the other idiots who jumped ship but didn't have the guts to stand as independents yet still managed to stab those who did in the back. Gurcharan Singh should be ashamed to show his face in public, he spent 20 odd years building his so-called votebank and it melted away and showed him up to just a blabbermouth. Good at backstabbing fellow Sikhs, but not much use opposing Sharma and his IWA and congress party stooges,
  12. Did anyone see the channel 4 news lead story this evening? It was about Tony Lit giving £4,800 to the Labour party a few weeks before he became a conservative candidate. He was asked about this and after giving a few roundabout answers made the statement 'I've been a member of the conservative party for..eh..eh a few weeks and a supporter of the conservative party since 1992'! So that means he didn't vote for his old man in 2001!! On a positive note Tony Lit was in the Hindu Mandir in Lady Margaret Rd trying to get Hindu votes, when some old man started shouting 'Get out, vote for Verindra Sharma' This started a near riot and the police had to be called as someone slapped the old man and neighbours had called the police because of the ruckus! Given that Sharma has been interfarrng in the Gurdwara for years it was nice to see that Tony Lit reciprocated. Now if Tony Lit supporters can guarantee that he will go back to the Mandir and start a bigger punch-up then I may vote for him!! On a completely different topic, the news report showed people eating Langar upstairs. I never knew that Mandirs served langar, is that a regular feature of mandirs or is it the Sikh influence in Southall?
  13. Gurcharan Singh is a sell out and that's a fact. He betrayed the Independent Sikh candidiates by asking 3 different ones to stand and then he let them down. He just wants to get revenge on Labour, he's not interesting in any turbaned Sikh becoming a MP. So what's wrong with Sant Bhindranwale quotes? First time I've come across a Khalistani complaining about Sant Bhindranwale quotes!
  14. Also one of the main leaders didn't try to escape dressed as a woman!
  15. Don't know about that. Some of the candidates including the Labour one would sell their grandmothers to become MPs. Only Jasdev Singh Rai is a candidate with principles.

    Dark Secret

Usually these kinds of phobias can be cured easily by hypnosis or by some other kind of therapy. Go to your doctor and because your phobia is having a big impact on your life you should be able to get the therapy free on the NHS. A friend of mine is scared of dogs, even if small sausage dog comes up he freezes and looks for a way of escape. He will even cross the road to avoid a dog that is even on a leash. Most of these phobias seem to have come about due to childhood experiences. My friend was attacked by a dog while he was on his way home from school. You might have had some incident involving water during your childhood.
  17. Only one Sikh family registered to vote in Tharparkar Staff Report Karachi: Jagjit Singh and his family are the only Sikhs in Tharparkar, the home of Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, who have registered to vote. There are a total of 2.7 million Hindus living in Sindh with a Sikh minority. There are a total of 405,525 registered voters from district Tharparkar. Singh, 34, was originally a Hindu but became fed up with the caste system and decided to convert to Sikhism with his five children and his wife. “Four years ago when I converted and started wearing the traditional dress, the locals most of who are Hindus, were shocked. Now, however, they’ve accepted me,” Singh told Daily Times, mentioning that Hindus generally don’t like Sikhs. Jagjit, a nurse by profession, works at a local hospital and has a small home in North Colony in Mithi Town, the district headquarters of Tharparkar. Tharparkar is supposed to be a Hindu stronghold. It has 163,316 Hindu voters, 122 Christian and 21 Qadiani voters, according to lists displayed by the election commission. Singh converted to Sikhism four years ago. “I don’t believe in the so-called caste system, so I decided to leave Hinduism and joined Sikhism,” he told Daily Times. His father, Tarachand, a retired primary teacher, is part of the Hindu Menghwar caste and still visits his son. Menghwar (shoemaker) is regarded as a lower caste in Hinduism and most of the upper castes mistreat them. Pakistan’s former dictator, Zia-ul-Haq, had also registered them as a Scheduled Caste. Singh said that he feels alone sometimes because there is no one else living in the area. “My small family and I feel lonely during religious festivals as there is no other Sikh family in the district.” When he was asked who he would vote for he said, “I would prefer to vote for anyone who understands the pain of the people. Religion would not matter.”
  18. What's with this shame on us all. Am I responsible for making sure some woman and her son don't kill their daughter in law? Stop acting like an <banned word filter activated>. If they did the crime they'll do the time. Move on I'm sure there are other issues you can beat yourself over.
  19. What that family did is unforgivable. If she really was having an affair then no matter how bad her home life was she committed a sin herself and as for the guy Harry Grewal he has to live with the fact that he is also in some way responsible for the murder because he had an affair with her. Anyway I guess we won't know the full facts but when you start to live a 'westernised' lifestyle and disregard your husband and family then there is bound to be some repercussions though murder is way too extreme, they should have just kicked her out of the house and sorted out the guy who was having an affair with her.
  20. I'm glad you agree that is bukwas. There's hope for you yet
  21. There are some people around who are in the process of re-writing Sikh history according to their own agendas Soon you will come to know that -; Nihangs are the original Khalsa and anyone else who has taken Amrit from non-Nihang source are not real Sikhs There are 4 sometimes 5 sampardhas all the rest are british influenced Shia Muslims have helped Sikhs and they are the true Muslims Guru Nanak supported Shias against Sunnis The Akali movement in which hundreds of Sikhs died freeing the Gurdwaras from the Mahants was illegal and Akalis disrupted the normal order of things Mahants weren't that bad Akalis are all bad All Sikhs who fought against the Indian government in the 80s and 90s were terrorists Most of the above Bukwas comes from these new age researchers.
  22. This is why Human Right organisations need to keep up the work of recording statements of all those who suffered due to Gill's crimes. If there are victims of his who now live in Belgium or any of the EU states then their statements need to be taken down and the law enforcement authorities informed in Belgium which is either the police or they can go through the judiciary. Our orgs should be working with people from Amnesty Intenational and Human Rights Watch. If his victims or the witnesses to his crimes can be presented before a judge then a judge may authorise his arrest. The law in European countries is a bit different than in the UK which is why we need experts in the law on our side.
  23. Really? Are you sure? If the Gurus were some sort of revolutionary interfaith leaders I'm sure Punjab should be full of Guru Kiya Maseetan and Guru Ke Mandir, and Guru Ke Girjaghar. It's not and the Guru Ki Maseet's history needs to be researched as to it's validity before we use it as the basis of whether we should support Mosques in the UK. Based on your mosqueophilia can I take it that you will be writing to the Parbandhaks of Mastgarh Gurdwara in Shahabad Markanda asking them to vacate the Gurdwara as it used to be a mosque until the 1770s before the Khalsa took it over.
  24. You're right, Sikhs need to study Sikhi as well as Sikh history but I don't agree with you that this Abu guy is a nobody. The British intelligence also made this mistake with people like Abu Hamza and Omar Bakri. They were treated a loonies and their speeches were dismissed as rants who no sensible person would believe but after 7/7 the authorities realised that their followers were quite willing to attack the UK and the recent plots after 7/7 such as the fertiliser plot, the heathrow plot and others show the involvement of these 'loonies'. Left free I have no doubt this Abu could easily inspire some of their followers to take to terrorism.
