  1. Erm I think:... Sadhus and what not look for Naam in forests - trying to leave everything behind and reduce attachment to maya. Whereas, GUru Ji tells us to stay and live normal lives and try to reach Naam. Guru Ji has given us the wisdom, we have to look within ourselves to find it. We have to look within ourselves to find Naam?? If that makes sense
  2. lol I thought 'serious gupt' was on about the kids with doo-rags and massive jooras on the front of their heads.... bungas are where you tie your kes in with your keski. It makes your dumalla more secure and strengthens it. Literally I think it means 'tower' ?
  3. shastar are worshipped and respected as though worshipping and respecting God themselves. Keeping shastar in your dumalla/dastaar prevents them getting damaged and shows upmost respect... i dunno about the jurras
  4. WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH This was a comment from someone on my blog....: "I don't quite know how to reply, except to say that had Khalistan existed on 31 Oct - 4 Nov 1984, my husband, my son, my brothers, my cousins and my two unborn daughters would not have 'Shaheed' in front of their names, nor would I have 'Widow' after mine. On 30 Oct 1984, I believed that Khalistan was a lot of silliness born from Singh Khalsa with too much testosterone and too much time on their hands. When I regained consciousness in Nov 1984 - I'm not sure of the day, I found my understanding of the movement had grown. Over the years, I have come to believe that the disolution of India, sooner or later - is inevitable. We Sikhs need to be there to at least pick up the pieces of Punjab and save our ancestral home from anarchy and ruin. In the meantime, the desertification of Punjab continues at an alarming rate; if something isn't done soon, this rich agricultural land will look more like the Kalahari Desert than a brimming breadbasket." 13 June 2008 18:09 I'm not a supporter of Khalistan, and this was in reply to a post I wrote on my blog http://sikhithoughts.blogspot.com I cried reading it, and I don't know what to really say. What do you lot say? WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WHAEGURU JI KI FATEH!
  5. lol realised...but its still funny cant help it
  6. lol media manage to cover the st.patricks day parade and other rubbish but they cant cover a massive rally in hyde park.........
  7. The fact that you lot are still talking about Jatts and Ramgharias jeeps casteism alive. I know what you guys want is change but a few of you have made valid points about this issue even being amongst 'gursikhs'. It isn't going to stop unless we actively protest against it. I.e. on Vaisakhi and other major programmes, dont just hand out leaflets which arent read; stop a bunch of youngsters and talk through the issues. We forget that those of us on these forums are a TINY minority and get angry when others dont see what we see. Like JustME pehnji said...we gotta BE the change. I know its easier said than done but like you guys have said, we gotta start sometime, why not now?
  8. lol is it on my blog? i gotta get rid of that!

    Gangster Sikhs

no point in moaning and just accepting it...try and help them and fill in the gaps in their knowledge - cos thats probably why they act the way they do .... educate them...teach them that sikhi is more than just khalistan lol
  14. Was this the white elephant with the black strip from trunk to tail?
  15. Theres quite a famous girl actually, I think she's from Delhi (not sure - dont quote me) who does pretty good gatka - dunno if she teaches - I seen a video of her putting soorma on her eyes with shatr.
  16. what about in canada - i'm goin this month and was wondering about the rules out there? Obviously on the plane its a no no, but when I land , as an amritdhari, gonna nedd my kirpan....
  17. Parchaar in the West is going at a good rate - i dont think we really need to worry so much - there are more youths into sikhi in the west than in india imho. The problem is in India. You can go to some places - often out in the middle of nowhere and find so many ppl into SIkhi, but the rest is like the rest of India. Kids would rather watch tv for 6 hours than learn about sikhi. They'd rather go phering on the streets than learn about Sikhi. Blatant parchaar problems. BUT we all know the problems in India. There has to have been a thousand posts on them. WE can go on and on talking about it, but nothings changing. We need to get off our butts and do something instead of sitting around waiting for a 'leader'. If everyone waited for a leader - there wouldnt BE one!
  18. Sounds wrong to me...how would any of us like it if we had to wear Hijabs or something? Turbans mandatory for sikhs sure...but forcing hindus is taking it a bit far isnt it?
  19. i wouldnt say they 'preach' anything and if they do I dont think its out of the ordinary...just normal parchaar?
