Anyway i have done some of my own research and found this, (below) I think its a very interesting question and i for one would like to see the articles of mr cole reappear, perhaps there is someway to trace his family tree and ask relatives or summit, just a thot. TEchnically speaking, vasakhi was set up by guru ram dass ji, this was done to give sikhs a structure and a date where we can celebrate together, in unity. It just happened to be that amrit was at the same date later on.

Take the time to think about it, simply because we recognise that they arent doing sikhi related things doesnt mean we take to arms and bring a huge argument. Instead of going online and arguing about it, why not think of, devise a plan on how to increase religious activities to carry out on vasakhi. Instead of just sitting idle at least that way we have a way of physically combatting against it. Hmm what do i mean? Well what do mela ppl do to change pps attitude of sikhi. THey know people like bhangra, how? because its on tv 24/7. So we should really be researching what is it that makes people like sikhi. Find that out you have half the battle. Personally i think the best way to combat it is to firstly set up a good communication link, preferably phone numbers or emails. Once a simple, effective link is established you can hold a keertan session anywhere anyplace, especially in england where there is an abundance of gurdwaras. Arrange older youth to set young kids challenges, a colouiring in book full of sikh warriors and sikh articles. Best drawing wins etc. Sikhi related quizez. Advanced youth could even have sikhudo (sukudo), this would entail sikh numbers. Older youth could be quized on things like name the las 5 jathedars etc etc. Rather than go to melas and cause havoc, instead of looking at other peoples negative aspects we should aspire to make a positive trend. We look at so much negativity that it rubs off and even gursikhs get entangled in this negative vibe. Take this topic for example. So stay in chardi kala, lets make a change rather than ask people to change. P.s. Dear original poster why didnt you just submit a polite email to the poster of that video?

With all due respect techno singh, its a sikhs duty to defend their right. Hard kaur has not in any way tested that right. Im sorry if it doesnt sound like the reply you wre expecting but in my opinion we should raise to self defence. In the case of hard kaur, what is their in a name? Waheguru gives us our names, and it is in his will wether that person will be a shining example...in a few years another singer wil crop up and we wil forget about this hard kaur...but in the case of gursikhs with chardi kala jeevans i.e. banda singh bahadur ji...baba deep singh ji...baba fateh singh ji..baba jujhar singh ji...baba zorawar singh ji...baba ajit singh ji...even mentioning these handful of sikhs from our history we can visually there whole jeevan what they were about and what they beleived in...with hard kaur we only see the present. Its just a fad...itl pass and we will probably find a new singer to vent our anger on...we let off alot fo anger and yet in theory none of this can be said to the person direct which would probably be much prefered. Why not ask the local gianni to teach you santhia, failing that your best bet, free of any predjudice is to take a long vacation at the akal takht or dam dami taksal, i know many gursikhs personally that have went there and brushed up on their santhia that they know bani off by heart and when you meet them they are always a pleasure to talk to and there are no signs of bitterness to anyone, always asks for kirpa. I would say its your own choice, provided you have it set in your mind that you wish to learn how to read our bani then i think even guru ji doing kirpa on your efforts will give enough time that ypou accokmplish this. However to do this, there is no wrong way. If you are reading it, then i suggest switch on the ipod, mp3, radio, onl;ine radio, skyradio anything to help with pronunication and that way, you build up speed too.

I think gurmukhs are rare to find, they are compassionate people they have piaar for all, quite often some people have differences with elders, or youngsters and after that if they ever meet they wont try and pick the good parts out they will always feel remorse and guilt one or the other about the specific differences very rarely do they look past it and accept that they agrree to disagree. This is where the gurmukh is different they will smile and carry on their daily routine, it makes no effect on them whatsover about anyones opinion or viewpoint. However guru ji did not just instruct them to ignore these people but stand up when needed, not sit quietly while someone is preparing to attack you or is going to attempt to, not to stand and watch clowns do inadequate acts in around any aspect of sikhi. Even then they will only seek to correct the person or solve the problem they shall not seek revenge.
