  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Interesting..I just asked my dad to clarify this and daddy ji says we should do Guru Maharaj ji's Sukhasan. My dad said the same points you did (and he had not even read the post). Hope that helps Bhul Chuk Maaf! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  2. Waheguroo Waheguroo Waheguroo Waheguroo................
  3. Miri Piri de Maalak Dhan Dhan Guru Hargobind Sahib ji Shaster Vidiya de dhani Dhan Dhan Guru Hargobind Sahib ji
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Its supposed to be white for cleanliness, chastity and hygiene and other reasons. AND it also has to be 100% cotton. The bottom line is that it is white. AND NO WAY IS IT BLUE! That is extremely disrespectful. Bhul Chuk Maaf! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Jo gursikh kee puchay jaatt ooh na mera sikh aad Jugaad!! Caste is still in Society because those people that believe in caste have not given their heads fully to guru sahib and they wish to classify themselves by Panjabi traditionals enforced by British to rule and divide the Sikhs so they could control panjab... What these panjabi's have forgotten is Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind's Singh Jis hukum...and for those people that are 'amritdhaari' to differentitate using caste is even more sad because they have obviously forgotten what the panj piyaray said to them once they became amritdhaari...that we are all equal as the Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Gurmail Singh is a chardikala and blessed kirtan. Definately deserves the utmost respect! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  7. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Pentra is the foundation of gatka and there are various steps used at different times. Steps to advance on your opponent, steps to ensure your body is in a defensive position (i.i protecting your limbs), steps to impress you opponents when you salute your weapon, steps to salute you opponent and so on.. I would advise you learn this of someone to ensure you do the correct steps. If you begin by getting used to the wrong steps then this will be very hard to correct later. Ultimately this means you will have a MAJOR weakness..if you can't find someone to teach straight away then I hope you do not miind me making a suggestion..I would sugest you work on your legs by doing exercises such as squats and stuff because strengthening you legs now will help you later. Working on your stamina will also help.. Bhul Chuk Maaf! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  8. May guru ji bless all bibia with the strength and sharda as displayed by bibi Deep Kaur..
  9. Nah, its fun driving fast..at the end of the day, if it's going to happen, it can happen at 30 MPH or 130! I'd rather live a short life like a lion then a long life like a sheep  My average speed in 120 mph and that is definately more fun then 60/70! I'll just leave to guru sahib's hands!
  10. inspirational post...very touching and true!
  11. Fauja Singh can sue under the Human Rights Act 1998 - Freedom of Religion. Sikhs are not permitted to enter the US Embassy with a kirpan, in fact they also ask u to take your Kara off so that when you go through the metal detectors you are not wearing anything metallic. The people at the embassy will use BS about other SIkhs take it off etc. The best thing you can do is stick to your guns and BE POLITE so they do not think you are being confrontational! Courts in this country don't really have metal detectors so you are ok to enter Courts. Bhull Chuk Maaf!
  12. You can include me in this... I always write essays
  13. I have just heard Rena Kaur's kirtan.. the piyaar and mithaas in her voice is sooo clear..may guru ji continue to bless her, Charanjit Singh and Paramjit Singh with a place at his charan... waheguroo waheguroo waheguroo waheguroo waheguroo!
  14. Like SOGGS ji says, keep it up...continue to go to the gurdwara. This will help as it will all slowly sink in. As for why katha cannot be in English. There are soo many words in gurmukhi that just cannot be translated into english as there is no equavilent word..and any similar word is not as deep and meaningful as the word in gurmukhi... The best thing we can do is try and learn panjabi..because that will also ensure that we prononuce gurbani correctly. Bhul Chuk Maaf!
  15. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Dear Aman Kaur, Your friend is talking about heaven...well, in sikhi we don't have a heaven so it's not like the Christian concept where if you are a good person you will go to heaven. Sikhi is the only religion that actually allows you to become one with guru sahib and to do this you do need to take the first step and become amritdhaari, but that is not all...there are various other things that need to maintained, such as rehit, simran, amrit vela, etc.. However, at this moment in time my dear sister, you need to feel you can take this step in you heart and mind. You need to accept that you have to give your head to the guru and live life according to guru ji's hukum. Bhul Chuk Maaf! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  16. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Dear Sikh Soldier, To answer your question ... I would say every sikh has a fundamental obligation not only to stay fit but to learn to fight so they can defend those that cannot defend themselves and uphold righteousness. In order to do so, one must learn the the art of fighting with weapons as well as without! However, before one becomes a soldier, they must be a saint (know the sikhi principles), because anyone can be a soldier, but only someone that is a saint will fight for righteousness. The Khalsa is Akaal Purakh Jis Fauj...if we are unfit then how is it that we can abide by the concept of Saint Soldier? Bhul Chuk Maaf... Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! p.s. A Khalsa should not just be a saint soldier, a khalsa should be complete in every way and form...look at Dhan Dhan guru gobind singh ji maharaj...he was a saint, a soldier, a poet, a scholar...the list is endless...
  17. I am speechless. :umm: All I can say is that it is a big paap to think of dishonouring a woman, let alone actually participating in the act.. May guru sahib bring these perpetrators to justice!
  18. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! No my dear veer ji, there are many Singhs and Singhnia that are much more than anything I can ever be...e.g. look in the mirror :umm: And yes I agree with you and Vicki Ji. Bibia have to accept more than a little fault in this matter. Although we have equality, some bibia have shot themselves in the foot by not sticking to the fundamentals of sikhi, yet they expect to have the same rights as a singh! It hurts to say this but the bibia that do stick to their rehit are few and far between..but it's no issue because we want quality not quantity :D I think what hurts the most is that when you are amritdhaari and become a Khalsa you would expect to be treated as an equal but you seldom are. I think this is also to do with the way society perceives you. For some people it's very hard to forget culture and tradition and when the see bibia that do not conform to culture and tradition they think they are like tomboys and they start planting ideas that no one is going to marry then because they are soo boyish...what these people do not realise is that these bibia are mantaining their sikhi and rehit...it takes a lot sharda and courage to forget all the gibberish that society will bombard you with and maintain guru sahib's roop! Or maybe it's just guru sahib's kir pa... B) but either way some singhnia manage to do it...and they deserve the upmost respect I wish I could name them all here..he he he Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  19. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Interesting topic you have started SOGGS... :T: I won't go into detail about things that I do compared with Singh's because then I will just sound hankari.. but, there are plenty of singhnia out there that can probably out do most singhs. I have amritdhaari sisters that wear damalay, shaster, do gatka, all sorts...They are fortunate that they have supportive parents that have raised them in sikhi! However, the problem is that society is not always willing to accept or support singhnia like this...but those singhnia that are like that...keep it up! :umm: Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  20. It is true that muslims do taunt Sikhs, but usually it's just verbal. Even when weapons are pulled it is still not just to pull out your kirpan. There are other means of defending yourselves i.e fists, belts, etc. And I am not just saying this for the sake of saying this. I have grown up in all this Sikh v Muslim warfare, so this is from my experiences. The Amritdhaari singh's would probably have used their belts as weapons or something of that sort, but not the kirpan, simply because of the consequences something like this can have! No offence but the guy that did pull out his kirpan should have thought of the consequences this would have on everyone...worldwide! The kirpan issue is a hot topic at the moment as many employees at Heathrow Airport are Amritdhaari singh. However, new European Law only permits them being able to wear a kirpan that is LESS THAN 2 1/2 inches. At this moment in time the government are looking to stop the wearing of a kirpan but they cannot do this because this infringes the right to Freedom of Religion which is also protected by law. Incidents like this will just reinforce the governments opinion that allowing people to wear a kirpan in dangerous. I highly doubt this incident will be investigated throughly! Sorry about the negative attitude sangat ji...but that usually the way things go oh well, it's all in guru sahib's hands...
