    About relatives and marriage

Sat Shri Akal ji, I was thinking many times should I discuss this topic in sikh forum or not. Now, I decided to share that. I am living in Australia. When I came Australia after 1 year my father died. My all relatives tell or can say pressure my mom now you should found a girl for your son that will help you to come up from this situation. My mother was already in trauma so she thought thar her father, mother or bother, sister thinks good for her. So, all relatives started to found a girl for my brother. My mother’s sister(my massi ji) tells about a girl to my mother and said she is doing IELTS you should marry your son with that girl. Your daughter and son will be together in same country(Australia). All relatives know about that girl and her family( My mother’s father, mother, sisters and brothers). They did not give time to my brother and mother to investigate about girl’s family. They just told you should trust us. My mother and my brother went to see girl, my relatives said to my family say yes and do engagement now. They can’t say anything because all are old and experienced person. Then my brother married that girl and my brother spend all the money on marriage both sides and to send her to Australia. She just live with my brother only 15 days then she came Australia. Then, she started living with me in Australia. I spend my all money that i earned here on my bhabhi’s fees and other expenses. After 7 months my marriage fixed in NZ. I had to leave my bhabhi after marriage. Then we found the real face of all the relatives and my brother’s wife. After 3 to 4 month of my marriage( I am his sister) my brother found that his mother in law have AIDS and that girl also had relations with some boys before marriage. My all relatives already know about that. The girl tell my brother that they send Rishta to my dad when he is alive. But my dad refused. The girl’s mother have relations with many men in my village. When my brother talk about that to his wife she said I don’t want to live with you. My relatives support that girl and her mother and they forced my brother to transfer all the property under his wife’s name otherwise she will not invite you in abroad. My relatives told that you should send your mother to age care and break all relations with your sister and also give all the property to your wife. I didn’t believe that my mother’s sisters, mother, father, brothers told that. My brother spend around 40 lakh on his wife. Our all relatives should help my mother but they betrayed my mother and brother after my father’s death. Then it’s end to divorce of my brother with that girl. Then my all relatives start spreading rumors about my mother. Now , we are looking a girl for my brother last 4 years. We don’t find a right match. My mother is in depression after this 2 incidents. My brother have everything we are just looking a simple girl who take care of my mother and brother. We are hoping waheguru ji will send a perfect match for my brother. Just want to tell everyone please don’t believe that you relatives search a right match for you. Always first found about the family background then take correct decision. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh.
  2. Today I see many people mix Punjabi culture things with sikhi. Like I personally think that Bhangra, giddha and other things like this aren’t related to sikhi and aren’t allowed for Sikh to do. People need to understand that being Punjabi is different than being a Sikh. Do u guys think that Bhangra and giddha r forbidden in sikhi?? I wanna hear sum more people’s vichar in this
  3. VJKK VJKF! Sangat Ji, are there any Singh's (or Singhia) in the GTA area (Ontario, Canada) that do shooting (airguns or guns) or are members of gun clubs? I would love to meet fellow Gursikh's in the area that enjoy shooting and know of places (indoor or outdoor) where we could shoot for target practice etc. Perhaps there is someone here that has private land or knows someone that does where Sikh's could gather and practice target shooting or even archery etc. Even an old barn. If anyone knows then please comment. Thanks. Gurfateh Ji!
  4. I read "Kaur" was used by Sikh women due to the Singh Sabha Movement. Was using "Kaur" after a Sikh woman's name less popular prior to the movement? When was the first mention of "Kaur" in writing? Admin Note: Please post using your registered id.
  5. Hi am in current about to move canada i have question that many boys told me that u should cut ur hair because girls in canada don't like turban boiz plz reply if any punjabi boy or girl know the answer i have added my photos also
  6. I remember once reading that Gobind was asked why he gave Sikh woman the name 'Kaur' and it quoted him as replying because a princess is equal to any male. My GoogleFu has failed me in finding that story of any other that report Guru Gobind own explanation of 'Kaur'. Does anyone know od any?

  8. I tie a taksali dumala, but i am wondering what is the history behind it. Apparently the singhs in guru jis time used to wear nihang dumala and used used to wear chakars on them. When was the taksali dumala style made? who made it? is there a reason why taksalis wear this dumala?
  9. Some have been claiming Kaur actually means crown prince and not princess so when Guru Gobind singh ji created the Khalsa and named baptised Sikh men as Singh as lions he is then allegedly have baptised Sikh women as kaurs meaning crown prince (according to feminist revisionists) and not princess? I find that an absurd notion. The correct and logical meaning has always been kaur means princess because of the gender differences and Guru Ji knew that women preferred to beautify themselves and raise the family and men liked to be the protector and hunter for the family/community. But it seems people are determined to twist sikhi to suit their own anti-nature feminist agenda. I've checked many of the sources from where these people tried to link kaur with rajastani words like kanwar, etc and none of them add up or make logical sense.

    Pressures of Marriage

VJKK, VJKF! With Waheguru Ji's kirpa I have been blessed with Amrit recently. I am getting used to the change in my life so far and it's been a great journey, however, I am starting to feel the pressures of marriage. I just turned 25 years old and my family is saying I should start looking now before it's too late, but whenever someone from Sangat introduces me to another Singh, the topic of kes comes up. They want me to break my rehat and shave before marriage. This is something I am not willing to do and never will do, but the pressures of marriage and finding the right life partner is becoming hard. My whole family is not devoted to Sikhi, just a few of us, so it's even more difficult. Another challenge is education. Everyone wants me to find someone with a degree, job and living at home in Canada. Any advice anyone can give would be great.

    Finding a Singh for Marriage

  13. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh ! I am in a bit of a conundrum Saadh Sangat Jee. I have decided that I want to take Amrit and walk the path of our Guru, my wife doesn't eat meat / drink etc however is not ready as of yet to take Amrit. Her mind-set is to take Amrit but not right now, and I respect that. We have one young child (7 months) and we are planning to have more in the future. My questions are : Am I still able to take Amrit from the Panj Pyaare even though my wife will not be? Are we still able to have a physical relationship (without her having taken Amrit)? I have read through some of the posts on previous topics, but would be keen to hear and read everyone's thoughts? Bhul Chuk Maaf Daas Gurvinder Singh
  14. Recently I have been pondering over this a lot...why isn't Mata Ji mentioned in the Ardaas? Almost all the key figures in the Panth throughout history and currently are mentioned either directly or indirectly, but oddly enough the Mother of the Panth has no mention. Not only that but Mata Ji has generally been sidelined and treated as a background figure up until recently where there has been (somewhat) more awareness of Her status, which in actual fact is a very exalted status; Mata Sahib Devan Ji is the Puran Sargun Saroop of Adi Shakti. Why isn't She talked about more? Why do we not do Ardaas to Her? Why is She not remembered or invoked on a daily basis? Aside from a brief mention on Baisakhi there is nothing. The Mother of the Sikh Panth, of the Khalsa, Jagat Mata, is Adi Shakti Herself. We are blessed. And we as a Panth need to take it upon ourselves to pay homage to Her, and give Her the utmost respect and reverence. Mata Ji is Ang Sang Sahai... Please share your thoughts. Gurbar Akaal!!!
  15. http://www.sikh24.com/2018/06/29/op-ed-misogyny-in-the-khalistan-movement-view-of-a-kaur/#.WzXeLnrwbcs I was sent this article and found it to be very accurate and on the ball. However, as much as i agree with this article, i think this article could be expanded even further. yes the typical khalistani in the uk is male, amritdhari and lashes out when anyone opposes their views. trust me i used to be exact the same. but taking a step back since i have moved away from birmingham, i can see that by restricting the movement to black and white, is never take the movement forward. the movement never was restricted to just amritdharis, initially the Anandpur Sahib mata was for all Punjab. secondly, Sant ji being the great visionary that he was, actively sought those who had broken away from sikhi i.e the smugglers, gangsters etc. thirdly, even at the peak of the movement, a lot of the kharkoos were not just gursikhs, a lot were well known guys in their areas and that gave them the base to branch out to other like minded guys and had girls who helped them out. so if you compare that to now, in general the khalistanis are seen as extremists by most sikhs (which hurts me to say), while the so called khalistanis are quick to alienate anyone who doesnt agree with them and give themselves in front of their own circles the hype about how panthic they are. from sant ji to baba manochahal, brahma, budhsinghwala to mintoo, these had enough vision to realise that if you want the sangaarsh to move forward, then all types of sikhs need to be involved, whether that is gursikhs, non gursikhs, male/female, young/old or anything else.
  16. Salute to this mahaan jodha who sacrificed his all for us, funding himself for the sangaarsh, turning his back on a successful business and the luxuries of the west.
  17. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I have heard conflicting information regarding Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s wife Jind “Kaur” (only a Kaur in name). Shes often praised and seen as a role model for Kaurs. However, recently I have seen people say that she was corrupt and sleeping with the Dogra’s. What do you guys think?
  18. Wgjkk wgjkf i have a question. Why is it that some amritdharis experience naam and bani and some don't? Aren't we all supposed to experience it if we are given amrit? What should we do to experience it appropriately? thanks
  19. After seeing this in the news: http://www.firstpost.com/india/who-is-jaspal-atwal-khalistani-militant-convicted-of-trying-to-kill-punjab-minister-roils-india-canada-relations-4362871.html I was wondering if anyone has got more information about the khalistan movement in canada during the 80s/90s. I know the likes of Parmar, Bagri, Para, Kooner, Khera and now Raman etc are all well known, but there were many other actions that took place in Canada. The likes of jasbir Singh Atwal, Jaspal Singh Atwal, Amarjit Singh Dhindsa and Sukhdial Singh Gill, I also remeber hearing about another group of youth who tried doing Rajiv Gandhi on his visit there? Can anyone share any info as these are kurbaniyah that were taken by the youth during a dark period in our history. Advance Warning: IF YOU GOT NOTHING PRODUCTIVE TO SAY THEN PLEASE DONT COMMENT ON THIS THREAD lol
