In the beginning:

"Sikh youths are getting ready to walk the ramp and display their well-trimmed beards and turbans..."

and yet, the secretary of the event states later on:

"“Through this competition the young Sikhs in the community would also get an opportunity to see that beard and hairs, which symbolises Sikh religion, should not be cut,” said the secretary."

So the secretary, who actually knows about the event, states that the Sikhs would have uncut beards, but the author states that the competitors are trimming their beards.

Not to mention the spelling mistakes in the article.
