its the EUROPEAN union not the CHRISTIAN union, if Turkey wants to join then let them. Most Muslims in Turkey are moderate compared to other Islamic states.

as for the influx of Turkish immigrants, the same scaremongering was apparent before the Eastern Block was about to join in 2004.

and finally the increase in Muslims in this country, thats gonna happen regardless

of whether Turkey joins. Lets look at the trend of growth between Sikhs and Muslims.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A GENERALISATION and my viewpoint on most Sikh and Muslim families-sorry to cause any offence to anyone.

Most Sikh families- 2.4 children, raised in Punjabi culture (even thats fading away!) and taught zilch about Sikhi, encouraged to study etc

Most Muslim families- 7-10 children, raised in their individual cultures but encouraged to follow Islam, the 'superior' faith, claim benefits etc

This is apparent everywhere in Britain, while Sikh numbers fall the number of Muslims rise.

Furthermore i work in bham airport, and the amount of Muslims arriving to the UK is astonishing.

Whats gonna happen is gonna happen regardless of whether Turkey joins.....

I think Turkey should be allowed to join the European Union. Immigrants that come into the UK have done a lot of good for this country, our parents' generation included.

In the last 10-15 years, there has been a huge amount of migration to the UK, and the immigrants have contributed to the biggest period of growth in the last 120 years in the UK.

All the Earth is Waheguroo's. I think that the people should be free to travel all over wherever they wish. The Europeans ruled all over the world in the last 1000 years, and took whatever they wanted from the rest of the world. And now they are preventing other nations from emigrating to their countries.

Turkey joining the EU would be good. It would raise the wealth of Turkey, and show that Muslim countries can live in a liberal democratic structure. Since Turkey has been preparing to enter the EU, the human rights of the population, particularly the Kurds has greatly improved.

As far as Turks being uncultured Muslim potential terrorists, in my view, that's quite a bigoted approach to take. I know some Turks who are very nice and accommodating people. Also, no Turks have carried out terrorist attacks, but Turkey has been the victim of terror attacks.

If Turkey is treated well by the West, it will be an example to the rest of the Muslim world that Muslims can cooperate well democracies and live in a healthy and prosperous Union.

The fact that you know a few good turks doesn't make everyone in Turkey is the same. If there is something that Europeans fail to understand it's that not all immigrants are the same! For the most part Christian East Europeans are hardworking and contributing to the economy. The Muslim East Europeans ie Kosovans and Bosnians either are on the dole or involved in criminal activities. The same is the case of Africans. Christian Africans are hardworking but Somalis are not. The only Muslim people that create no problems in their host countries are the Iranians, all others create problems.

i would personally say i am against it for many reasons.

yes its good to have decent muslim folk in the EU, and turkey would set an example.

but elts not forget, turkey is halfway between europe and asia.

also, that means the boarders of europe stretch to iraq. now with the iraq war, it will be easy for extremist folk to come into europe and travel freely and blow up a certain building.

the evidence of any future terroist attacks on any european country could be linked through some person coming through turkey.
