Cute Story

I heard this story when I went to the gurdwara yesterday and I thought it was really cute, so I thought I'd share it with the sangat.

Ok, once there was a little boy, about 3 years old, named Surjit Singh (I don't remember his exact name so we'll just call him that.)

One day he noticed his dad eating chocolate chip cookies in the living room with a glass of milk. Little Surjit thought to himself, hey, dad likes milk - I think I'll give him a glass of milk. So with this thought in mind Surjit made made his way to the kitchen. He pulled out a chair from the table and dragged it across the kitchen, creating marks on the floor as he did so. He climbed up onto the chair and onto the kitchen countertops, swung open the cupboards, and went in for a glass. As he did so he sent two other glasses shattering onto the floor. Oblivious to the mess, Surjit climbed down off of the counter, glass in hand, dodging the bits of broken glass.

The entire time, surjit's dad had been watching from the living room, wondering if he should step in and save the rest of the kitchen. He wathced as Surjit made his way to the fridge, violently swinging open the refridgerator door. Rather than grabbing the half-empty carton of milk Surjit grabbed the full-to-the-top carton of milk. Determined now, he set the glass down on the floor as he attempted to pour some milk into the glass, but ended up getting most of the milk onto the floor. Finally he set down the open carton of milk, picked up the glass, and excitedly left the kitchen (of course leaving the refridgerator door wide open).

Seeing his dad, Surjit began to run into the living room, when suddenly he fell, sending the milk flying all over the furniture. Surjit looked up to see his father covered in milk from head to toe, looked at the mess in the kitchen, and began to cry. He looked into his father's eyes, wondering, what are you going to do to me? But his father simply smiled and gathered little Surjit into his arms, proud to say, "You are my son."

Surjit's dad is alot like Guru Gobind Singh ji. Even when we create havoc wherever we go while we're on earth, Guru ji forgives us, only looking at our heart and thegood that we have done (or tried to do.) Guru ji is like our father.

Great story or what? Well, the original was alot better, but that's ok.
