Politely requested GNG Smethwick president for several coaches- he agreed to book one coach for now but if the locals on sikhsangat forum would POLITELY make a similiar benti he will book more at least on standby.

Good on Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick. I'm sure if enough Sikh youth politely request the Gurdwara to arrange transport that this will be forthcoming.

However, Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick is not the only Gurdwara in Birmingham that could send coaches.

What about South Birmingham, Tividale, West Brom even Soho Road - Sikh Sangat members in Birmingham should also be requesting these Gurdwaras to arrange transport.

Several other Gurdwaras in Birmingham have been approached and are likely to provide transport fo the Sikhs in the Square event on Sunday 6 November. Update from Sikhs in Birmingham will no doubt be forthcoming . . . .

Word is getting around:

Coaches likely from Bedford, Birmingham (Smethwick), Bristol, Coventry, Derby, East Ham, Gravesend, Leicester, Nottingham, Slough, Walsall, Wolverhampton.

The word is that some Gurdwaras may be reluctant to organise coaches mainly for the Sikh youth as the "Sikhs in the Square" event will almost entirely be in English and not cater for everyone in the Sangat. However, please try and explain the bigger picture that this is not only targeting younger Sikhs, but also non-Sikhs who may out number the Sikhs present. The media will also be interested.

APPEAL TO THE SIKH YOUTH IN THE UK

Please speak to your local Gurdwara AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and urge them to support the innocent Sikhs massacred in November 1984 by organising transport for Sunday 6 November and encouraging the Sangat to join in.

A meeting of the Sikh youth concerning the local arrangements for the Sikhs in the Square event is expected to take place at 6.00pm on Saturday 22 October at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Sedgley Street, Wolverhampton.

We hope Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Sedgley Street, Wolverhampton which is always at the forefront of Panthic activities will arrange several coaches for Sunday 6 November. Perhaps one or two other Gurdwaras in Wolverhampton, Willenhall, Wednesfield etc. can be encouraged to also arrange transport.

SLOUGH TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

Despite some of the Sangat wishing to go to the Nagar Kirtan in Southall on Sunday 6 November a coach has been organised by Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Wexham Court, Sheehy Way, Slough, Berkshire SL2 5HU for the SIKHS IN THE SQUARE event.

Many youngsters have also said they will be making their own way to Trafalgar Square. However, those wishing to travel by coach should contact Bhai Jaspal Singh at the Gurdwara or ring him on 07956 460231 to leave their names. The more people in and around Slough that contact him and confirm their places, the more likely it is that additional transport arrangements will be made by the Gurdwara.

Those travelling by coach should meet at the Gurdwara on Sunday 6 November from 12 noon so the coach can leave by 12.30pm at the latest. Some classes at the Panjabi school finish at 12.30pm - it might be a good idea if the Panjabi school teachers were urged to release students slightly earlier so they can take part in the Sikhs in the Square event.

The posters for the Sikhs in the Square event and individual postcards will be available at Sri Guru Singh Sabha at the weekend.

Contact Bhai Jaspal Singh at the Gurdwara or ring him on 07956 460231 to leave your names.
