Well it all started in the UK.. sikhkids.com sangat has been having akhandjaaps for years.. i think they've had 9 akhand jaaps now.. and then Young Sikhs of UK organized one... and BC Sikh Youth got inspired to organize one last year so they did their first one in November... and Ontario Sikh Youth had their first akhandjaap earlier this year.

At the BC Sikh youth Akhand Jaaps typically it starts with prakash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, Hukamnama, Nitnem, Ardas, Hukamnama, and then the Akhand Jaap starts.

The akhand jaap includes basically different sevadaars taking turns to play the vaja and do simran. Tabla sevadaars also switch periodically. The atmosphere is amazing and all of the sangat just does simran continuously.. sometimes people say Gurbani lines here and there, or "Dhan Guru Nanak" but it is most "Waheguru" simran.

That takes place for about 12 hours.. then Rehiras Sahib, and keertan, smampti, and Ardas, hukamnama, and langar.

Langar is actually served as breakfast / lunch / snacks / dinner throughout the day while the Akhand Jaap is going on.

It's an awesome experience - just like a Rainsabhaee keertan but a little bit longer, and with mostly simran.

Check out www.akhandjaap.com for more info

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fatheh! _/\_

With Guru ji's kirpa the recording sevadaars uploaded the Akhand Jaap Recordings from November 20, 2005 at Guru Nanak Academy, Surrey.

They are online at the Gurmat Studies website at http://www.gurmatstudies.com

Please download and save to your hard-drive rather than streaming from the site

Sangat was very blessed to have darshan of keertanis from Seattle, Calgary, and Edmonton, and more sangat from Victoria, Nanaimo and the Lower Mainland.

Next Akhand Jaap will be probably in the end of February at Guru Nanak Academy. Please give your dasvandh to Guru Nanak Academy so that they can continue to provide services to the youth in a positive environment.

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa,

Vaheguru ji ki fatheh!
