ASM, it might be an idea to submit your write up on this critical issue to the Sikh Times, they have a template you can use to submit stories at the above mentioned contact list.

We should also ask Panthic Weekly to do a write up on this. Does anyone have any links to any of the writers at Panthic Weekly ?

If anyone has any email addresses for SS Mann, Khalsa Panchayat, Shabaaz Khalsa etc then please post them.

Also please send clean emails with no vulgar language,  in line with what our Guru Ji's teachings.

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

I just written this to all the contacts given, i dunno if it sounds professional or not, but i had to write summet to stop this happening.

If anyone wants to copy n paste this to email anyone- feel free (but you might wanna check it coz it might not make sense- nothing i write makes sense lol- i end up confusing everyone).

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Satsriakaal.

Im 16 from the UK.

And im deeply upset about the SGPC building concrete over the Guru's garden.

All the Sikhs are against this building over the Guru's garden;

please see this forum; http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=17154&st=0

The SGPC is building this concrete over Guru's garden against the will of millions of Sikhs across the globe.

I havent had a chance to see it yet, but i would love to see it, havent i even got a right to see what my Guru ji constructed for?

Havent the future generations, yet to come, got a right to see the Guru's garden?

The Guru construced for the Gurus garden to be built, under Akaal Purakhs will then who are we to destroy it?

That building can be built somewhere else, whereas the Guru's garden can't.

What if the building isnt successful? Then that will mean aswell as having a financial loss they will of made us lose a part of our heritage, the Guru's garden, which has great historical value to us aswell.

Please address this issue, before its too late and its lost forever, please whats happening is wrong, please dont let the Guru's garden be lost forever

a humble request from a Sikh.

Satsriakaal.

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Its just came in my mind why dont we write one email- which tells about whats going on- which we can email to every Sikh which they can forward- which they can put thier names on to say thier against this (like the email which you could add the name on for the Russia Mandir thing). In this way Indian Sikhs will be able to know whats really going on and will try to stop this from happening by these forwards educating them.

I don't think this has been discussed, since this is a very recent thing, and their discussion is on wednesdays (i.e. tomorrow)

So you could still ring them in and ask them to discuss it, but as far as I'm aware it has not been discussed yet.

I emailed Jasvir Singh and he mentioned that they discussed it on wednesday. So maybe they discussed it last week.

  • 3 weeks later...

The SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar is due in the UK in a week or so. It might be a good opportunity to arrange a meeting with him to discuss the issue of Guru Ka Bagh and preserving Sikh heritage.

Unfortunately I do not know where Jathedar Avtar Singh will be staying. I am sure someone on the forums will know and can help arrange some sort of meeting.

I will email Jasvir Singh Ji at Panjab Radio and see if he has any contact details or if he can get the Jathedar onto one of his discussion programs.

There was a news story recently about The Prince of Wales visiting Hibernia Road Gurdwara. IN fact its scrolling past me on the right as I write this out.

ON another message board I wrote this about that visit "I am getting increasingly fed up with sikh organisations trotting out the same old hackneyed stereotypes when "entertaining" royals and politicians. The routine is now so old hat [VIP arrives is garlanded with flowers, hankies on the head, quickie tour and then a gatka performance]. Sikhs in Great Britian are a vibrant, modern, diverse and high-achieving group - we must do much more in pressing our standing in this country than performing like circus monkeys in front of the Prince of Wales while he sits bored rigid in a plastic picnic chair.

What occured yesterday was nothing short of a coon show. It was a demonstration that the Sikh community in the UK can be reduced to dressing up in the garb of the warriors that the British defeated and humiliating themselves by attacking raw fruit !

The Prince of Wales is visiting Punjab later this month. Why not educate him on the destruction of Sikh Architectural heritage in the state ? He is after all a passionate advocate of architecture; in a few well-chosen diplomatic words he can single handedly rescue the "Guru ka Bagh" in Amritsar which is under threat of being

concreted over. Why not press the environmental issues in Punjab or the potential for organic farming in Punjab - other subjects that he is deeply interested in.

Very disspointed

Last week the SGPC announced the intention to build a Hi-Tech Museum in Amritsar. This week it has emerged that the likely site for this venture is the sacred Guru-ka-Bagh in the Harimandir complex that was the garden of Guru Arjan Dev ji and the place within which "Barah Mah" was composed.

It has beens said before then When a society or culture starts tearing down their history/heritage and replace it with something "new" they are truly lost and lack a sense of direction.

This is truly sad, i almost feel sick to my stomach about this...

Why is SGPC allowing this?

And why a high-tech center? This stuff won't last, these things come and go...

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
