Firstly we all know that a Nagar Kirtan at the time of Vasaikhi is to celebrate the founding of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Nagar Kirtan are not held to celebrate the annual harvest festival which happens to fall on the same day. Think of it like Diwali and Bandi Chor Diwas. They both fall on the same day but we celebrate Bandi Chor Diwas and Hindu celebrate Diwali.

It is time the organisers of these Nagar Kirtan started to differentiate between the two and ensuring that Nagar Kirtan at Vaisakhi were taken out in a proper manner with none of this bhangra rubbish. If any bufoon wants to do bhangra at a Nagar Kirtan then they should be told to stop and if they still do not listen then the polcie asked to escort them away as their dancing is likely to lead to a breach of the peace etc.

As for the hooded tops. Can all those bringing this matter up get it into their heads that the Khanda is not a puratan design. It dates from the 20th century. As such it can be altered.

However I too am of the opinion that such clothing to emulate street fashions should not be manufactured. A while back it was vogue to wear and show the waist band of your designer boxer shorts, what if someone made some boxer shorts with Khanda on the waist band ?

I have said this before, Guru Gobind Singh Ji has told us what the uniform of the Khalsa is. This does not include clothing with Khanda and AK47. Do not buy these clothes. Save your money and use it for a positive purpose. Do not become victims of fashion.

you probably forgot to mention when the bibis were dancing the fellow singhs were ALL WEARING AK47 KHANDA TOPS THE BHANGRA GROUP STOPPED anyway dont make out the ak47 crew were patrolling the nagar kirtan making sure everything was right. i watched all the nagar kirtan from the beginning at havelock road and the AK47 crew only appeared at south road. THEY make out that they know whats best so i take it it took them 2-3 hours to figure out that there was a bhangra group there. SHAME that with dhol players its fine ten dhol players including 2 bibis playing dho with all those people in your video dancing doesnt get commented on

Yea but vaisakhi has cultural meaning too and bhangra was actually started because of it (Harvest Season)

I think its fine to have bhangra in different floats as long as it doesnt interfere with the kirtan or inturupt it at all.
