Viasana Meditation - Eliminating Bad Habits

Hi Sadh Sangat Ji,

I am loooking to eliminate bad habits that I have, trying to be a better Sikh.

I was wondering ways on how to eliminate bad habits, seeing how man makes the same mistakes over and over again, I think I do it as well.

we all have bad habits, and there are different techniques to help get rid of them, but here is a small formula:

1) recognize that it is a problem and that you want to stop it

2) commit to yourself that you will stop it and ask Akaal Purakh Vaaheguroo jee to help you to never do that bad habit ever again (never ever again in your whole life)

3) Read lots of bani, especially bani that reminds you why that bad habit is not part of Gurmat

4) every time you feel that you want to do that bad habit, make a conscious open eyes open mind decision that you will not do it. just act like a very strong security guard, who won't let anything wrong get in your mind. fight maya like warriors fight the enemy.

eventually you will not be interested in that bad habit and you can begin to form good habits in its place.

veerjee, the line was told to me by my grandfather a long time ago. i will have to ask him again. from what i can remember, the line starts with:

mn jwqw hY qo jwny dy AsiQr rK srIr [

i cannot remember the second part of it, but it was poetry so it probably rhymed and the last word of the second line was probably qIr (arrow)
