I think he said he was there. Dont get your point. Are you saying he wasnt?

I'm saying that I can not recall any time where it has been said that taking amrit is not required. He said that he was told this by some singh at the camp.

Once again please don't slate the camp...actually visit the camp and see for yourself what the camp is all about.

i think it is quite clear what it is about....some people have been allowed to get away with things for to long now....maybe if they were stopped earlier it wouldn't come to this....time for change.

Yes some people who attend the camp and are not part of the running of the camp. The camp itself is nothing wrong. The 'people' have been addressed so that shall now not be an issue.

what people? can we have names? they have been addressed in the past too. they persist and come back. sometimes they are protected by others even thought they know they are wrong. u also seem to be accepting there is a probloem. but at other times act like it is a great camp.

I'm not a choogal kaur and so will not start naming names!

As I have said in all previous posts the camp itself is a brilliant camp. I know many who have turned to sikhi from attending the camp.

Yes there was an issue with certain indiviuals but that (as I said previously) has now been addressed.

He implied that this is what the camp teaches, I am saying this is not the case. So yes I am saying he is lying or this singh is lying.

A lot of people make up lies to bad mouth others. It is an everyday occurence.

Piddu don't lie, ok. This singh was part of a large group of young singhs who i know well. I unfortunately have not got it on tape but it is what he said, he picked it up at the camp from others. The camp says nitnem is not important, maryada is not important. Look at what u r teaching ppl. I do not go to manmat camp anymore, as i learned my lesson. If even 1 person has come away thinking that then it is dangerous, he then told me off his own back, makes 2 (or am i lying?), maybe he went on to tell others?

well im not against this camp nor for this camp at the moment

but i will be on one side come September where i will make up my own mind whether this camp has changed or not. I think it deserves a last chance - and by then if its still clear theyre not cleaning up their act, i will also join in the campaign to stop it. But i think one last chance is needed esp this year seeing as so much has happened.

My friends also agree and will to see when it comes September.

I respect Sharan Kaur from the West Midlands. Shes not afraid to reveal her identity and you can tell from that alone she believes in it strongly.

*also somewhere it said a bibi went to a camp two years and both years she had people talking sexually to her... if it went on for two years, including the first, why go back again and then whinge about it?

I will pretend i didnt read that. Why go back another year? You are saying give it another chance, yet you also are asking why go back antoher year. Singh Ji jago, that is a izzat of a sister, its comes before any camp. its my sister you are talking about, i suggest you think again next time. Imagine how hard it is for a Bibi to come forward and talk about being sexually abused. You cant Singh. Imagine it was your sister. Its good you and your friends are willing to give it another chance, but maybe others feel a sister and her izzat is more important.

Waheguru Ji.

Penji i think you should name these people.

It is not choogli if you have addressed these people.

They have clearly done something wrong for you to stop them coming to a camp.

What did they do wrong for you to stop them?

You will need to say more if you are trying to convince people they should come to this camp.

Sorry if i spoke out of turn.

I have met this bibi and as she said at the meeting in Gravesend she has no enmity towards anyone who runs the camp. She mentioned her personal incident at the camp a few years ago and spoke on behalf of some of her friends who are now married and don't want to come forward.

Golee Maro as an older brother I would say you need a slap for your inconsiderate comment above. In any society it is not easy for a woman to come forward and talk about any gross misconduct of a s£xual nature. She has managed to gain the courage after several years to come forward only to be labelled a "whinger" from people like you.

I personally think the Camp organisers are not mature enough to control and carry out this camp. That's my opinion based on my own cousins and family friends attending this camp as well as being at the meeting in Gravesend. Living local to where the Camp is held I have had to hear a lot of strange rumours over the past few years based around what goes on during the Camp. So much so even the local Singh Sabha Gurdwara Committee call it the Sanatan Camp.

Basically the Sikh Student Camp has a bad reputation and over the years they have done nothing to combat that reputation. I would not recommend the Camp to any of my cousins or local sangat as I lack confidence in the organisation and people running the camp.

    • Definitely the Guru Sahibs would be a heavier Scriptures to handle. Dasam Granth is more towards Bir Rass, Guru Gobind Singh showed his Greatness (of course, they would never say this) by separating his own Baania.  And the BIGGEST test of all?? Do we try and read Dasam Granth, Understand n show respect like we do to SGGS? Or... Do we QUESTION it? Guru Gobind Singh Ji is testing us.
    • My wife will be going for an MRI scan next week but her Kara won’t physically come off.  Is there any way the mri scan can be done with the Kara still on?  The alternative is we will have to try to saw it off before the scan.
    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
