Damdami Taksal calls for Sikh unity

The Damdami Taksal passed seven resolutions on the occasion of its tercentenary celebration which concluded at Talwandi Sabo yesterday.

Raising the issue of a separate Sikh state, the Taksal resolved to continue its “struggle for freedom”. Another resolution was passed to intensify its efforts to ensure the release of Sikhs who were languishing in jails since the days of “Dharam Yudh”.

The Taksal alleged that agriculture, which is the backbone of the Sikh community, has been pushed to the verge of devastation. It gave a call to all Sikhs to unite on a single platform to find a way out of the crisis.

The Taksal also raised strong objection against “distortion of Sikh history” in various text books. An appeal was made to the Sikh Sangat to respect Sri Guru Granth Sahib and keep away from deras mushrooming in the state. Baba Isher Singh, the son of Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, was felicitated with Baba Banda Singh Bahadur award.

Others who were honoured on the occasion included Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh Ji, Shaheed Gen: Shubeg Singh Ji and Shaheed Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji Jinda & Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Ji Sukha (all posthumously) and Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar. Taksal Chief Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti, Damdama Sahib Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh, Keshgarh Sahib Jathedar Tarlochan Singh, Takht Sri Patna Sahib Jathedar Iqbal Singh and head granthi of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib Partap Singh, were present at the function.

Many problems have been slapped against Damdami Taksal, like the recent one about the contriversial book, does it seem to you that the same Damdami Taksal would say things like that about Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale? Does it seem to you that Damdami Taksal would say things like that about Dal Khalsa, only because Sant Baba Harnam Singh Ji Khalsa could not speak or read english and edit the book before being published, that the person who was given the project of the book betrayed Taksal and Panth. But it must be noted that Taksal MORE than EVER is uniting and working closer with EVERY JATHEBANDI.

If close attention is paid you will notice that some people or groups or Panth virodi agencies are trying their best to drag down Damdami Taksal, even though Taksal is working at its best. Have these people ever commented at the good things Taksal have been doing? Over the recent few years Damdami Taksal have organised the wedding of daughters of Shaheed Singh's, has this been noted? Has this ever been brought to the attention of the Sikh Sangat?

Taksal chief demands action against Badal

The Damdami Taksal chief and chairman of the Sant Samaj, Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, today demanded that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Prakash Singh Badal must be called at the Akal Takht.

He blamed Badal for hurting the community by calling Taksal chief Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale as an agent of the Congress during the debate on terrorism in the Assembly.

Baba Harnam Singh termed the outburst of Badal as a big lie. “Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale has been considered as a martyr by the Sikh community and by using such words against the man, Badal has hurt the feelings of the community,” Sant Baba Harnam Singh said.

“The Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar must call SAD chief Badal to the Sri Akal Takht Sahib and ask for his explanation as to why he used such words against Sant Bhindranwale in the Assembly”, he demanded.

Baba Harnam Singh said the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), the representative organisation of the Sikh community, had itself named Sant Bhindranwale as martyr of the community and by saying that he was an agent of the Congress Party, the perpetrator of terrorism in Punjab, Badal had cheated the Sikhs.

He demanded that the SGPC must build a memorial for Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindrwanwale inside the Harmandar Sahib complex. If given a chance, the Taksal would build the memorial on its own, he said.

He questioned Badal as to why he failed to see all these facts about Sant Bhindranwale when he himself took part in the Dharmyudh Morchas headed by Sant Bhindranwale.

Baba Harnam Singh said the Damadami Taksal and the Sant Samaj were going to organise a ‘Virsa Sambhal Vishav Sikh Samelan’ and the World Sikh Conference at Fatehgarh Sahib on February 26.

Various Sikh organisations from all over the country as well as abroad would take part in it, he added.

He regretted the degradation in the religion and said that more and more people were giving up the Sikh Rehat Maryada which posed the greatest challenge before the religion.

The recruitment issue of the Jathedars at the Sri Akal Takht Sahib as well as at other Takhts would also be a matter of discussion at the World Sikh conference.

“Both the SGPC and the SAD, which claim to be the caretakers of the Sikh community, have failed to keep up the interests of the community in true terms.”

He chaired a meeting Sant Samaj comprising of 35 ‘Sants’ from all over the state at the Gurdwara Model Town.

No one doubts Sant Giani Baba Takhur Singh Ji Khalsa NOR Sant Giani Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa & if Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa are to return they would ask permission off Sant Baba Harnam Singh Ji Khalsa and the Jathedari of Damdami Taksal would be Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa's.
