Technically and scientifically a turban serves to protect our hair and scalp from the elements, and by keeping the crown covered, we automatically enhance our internal thermal controls, so that we remain cooler in the heat of the sun and warmer in colder temperatures. A turban also a puts a pressure on the frontal lobes and helps maintain stability on the crainial plates - and this serves to enhance our mental focuss and the clarity of our thought projections grin.gif

I fully agreed with Jagjeet Kaur Bhanjee that Turban is our crown and is essential part of sikh irrrespective of gender.

There is not a single problem in wearing turban but it is sorry afair that many sikhs (kesadhari) today in India do not wear it and wear small small daastar or in local language Pataka which does not suits their faces, ages and religious principles. There is no concrete step taken on this part by any Sikh organization here in India. In Gurudwara Bangla sahib one old age singh saab always caught the sikhs who wears these childish dasstar instead of the crown turban, inpsire them to wear it. The next thing after turban he checks the Kaara and inspire youth for that. I hope these committee will start some concrete programmes to curtail these problems.

bhul chuk maaf
