Mata Kartar Kaur jee the wife of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee was a very chardi kala singhnee. She and Bhai Sahib had a very good and loving relationship. Of course this relationship was based on Gursikhee principles and not on worldly love.

She like a pati-barta istree always ate after Bhai Sahib had eaten food. She learned all these great Gurmat principles staying in the sangat of a Brahmgiyaani Bibi, when she was young. She only ate after Bhai Sahib ate food and she used to wait for Bhai Sahib late night and only ate when he came home. Such was her love for him.

Doing sewa of her Brahmgiyani husband and following Gurmat to max, gave her spiritual powers. In those days there were no telephones but she always knew where her husband was and how many singhs were with him. At one time Bhai Sarvan Singh, Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee and two other singhs were at the dhaab (a place in the fields where Bhai Sahib used to do bhagti) that Mata jee arrived with food for exactly four singhs. Bhai Sarvan Singh who had a little bit of ego left fell at the feet of Mata jee and said that he used to think that only he had the spiritual powers but now he had seen Mata jee and this had deleted the subtle ego he had left.

I found out about the loving relationship between Bhai Sahib and Mata jee af

ter reading a poem that Bhai Sahib wrote in the memory of his beloved wife. I will see if I can translate it some day.
