Kirtan On The Stage?

Recommended Posts

All kings used to sit in a decorated paalki.

doing prakash in palki comes from hinduism. because they think their krishan comes in a palki

Is that documented? :D

ok i dont want to debate you on this. so this is my last post.

read some history, u'll see all kings used to sit on a throne, NOT a palki. think of the throne as a modren day sofa buh with expensive clothing and jewels n stuff on it.

Sangat should sit collectively at the same level on the floor. The stage tends to set up a divide between the keertani and rest of sangat when really the keertanis are still part of the sangat, no higher and no lower. Also, the stage usually makes the keertan seem like a "performance" directed at the sangat rather than directed to Guru Sahib as it should be. When keertanis sit on the floor at the same level as the sangat, then the sangat is not in the position of being a passive audience, but becomes active participates and the keertan becomes sangatee keertan where everyone sings along rather than just sitting and listening.

Also, palkee is really for transporting Guru Sahib. Parkaash should be done on a taabiya.

i find it tat doin kirtan while sitting on the floor and facing guru sahib is much more enjoyable

1. because on the stage there's limited stage, while sitting down on the floor a lot of sangat can sit together wit the keertani n sing along

2. i dun get disturbed by sangat walking in n out as im facing guru sahib

well thse are my personal views

Sitting on the floor infront of Guru Ji is wicked, because if You are on the stage doing kirtan and the sangat is infront of you, they will be focusing on the Kirtanee and focus on the kirtanee then focus and also it looks like their is a divide between sangat and kirtanee!. It is best on the floor infront of Guru Ji with the whole sangat behind the kirtanee singing infront of mahraj!
