maybe we should start a different topic for this? it's interesting, and there could be a lot of reasons for it.

it could be because image-wise Sikhs stand out, and people can be cautious or afraid of new things due to ignorance or just apprehension. firstly we don't drink or smoke, and i suppose as you go further towards becoming a gurmukh things like socialising might become a lower priority in life? it also depends on what people think a 'sikh' is. i doubt many people know what a Gurmukh/'true' Sikh actually is. (sorry if that sounds bad.) but nowadays Sikhs can be seen to drink etc..not exactly portraying an accurate image. maybe if Khalsae/Gurmukhs were included in the poll they would be further up, who knows. i'm sure a Gurmukh would be a loving soul, attractive to all. (would back this up with Bani but the computer is too dodgy for sttm.)

to the orginal poster - there's no need to feel guilty if you're true to Guru Ji, you won't go wrong. Guru Ji always knows the truth/motives behind any actions. and killing yourself is generally against Maharaj's Hukam; not a good road to go down.

I think gurmukhs are rare to find, they are compassionate people they have piaar for all, quite often some people have differences with elders, or youngsters and after that if they ever meet they wont try and pick the good parts out they will always feel remorse and guilt one or the other about the specific differences very rarely do they look past it and accept that they agrree to disagree. This is where the gurmukh is different they will smile and carry on their daily routine, it makes no effect on them whatsover about anyones opinion or viewpoint. However guru ji did not just instruct them to ignore these people but stand up when needed, not sit quietly while someone is preparing to attack you or is going to attempt to, not to stand and watch clowns do inadequate acts in around any aspect of sikhi. Even then they will only seek to correct the person or solve the problem they shall not seek revenge.

But thanks alot for raising this interesting point, i wonder how many ppl will actually reply to this,.

gursikhs dont stand out, its the "punjabi ppl" that do

the sikhs are being portrayed as Punjabi

the tipical punjabi that drinks and partys and is very aggresive.

and also in class a somalian muslim girl started saying sikhs are so strict with their mirages, dont let girls go out, and she said sumtin else that really shocked the whole class which i didnt hear, i think it was like sikhs are so agresive and tempered ppl that cant control it. so now shes sending out fake negitive image for sikhs. ppl dont know the diff between the punjabi culture and the sikh culture.
