There is a need to explain the Sikh religion , history and polotics in English but with respect. Most youngsters do not understand Punjabi so are going away from there religion. We do not have any parchar , look at how religiously and politically aware Muslims and a lot of hindus are , they have a lot of their parchar in English.]

It is simple PAL07, the reality of today is that youth are becoming increasingly distant from their heritage because it is becoming so inaccessible to them.

So having Gurbani in English in easy access is a good idea because some may pick it up and learn from it. Simple.

According to your thinking we may as well not print gutkas because people may abuse them and use them wrongly. Or have bani vichaar on television because people may be drinking or smoking when they flick through the channel.

Better still, ban books from having extracts of Gurbani in them, lest someone abuses them.

You know all this exclusivity and limiting access to the religion reminds me of Brahmins and Sanskrit. I could never support something that puts yet another barrier for Sikhs to access their heritage.

No offence intended.

fateh, britiah sikh lad

learning from what ???????

are you saying you should jo maharaj's beadbi and then afterwards try and learn something from it.

what exactly is it you would learn ??

Bhul chuk kima kardene.

Fateh - The Sikh Times is one of the few newspapers which is in english that cover the Sikh Nation's news.

If we were to go down your route and be on guard of not throwing away holy scriputer PRINTED IN NEWSPAPERS AND OTHER LEAFLETS ONLY then we we wud be in a constant "vairm" (frenzey)

On vist to mecca Guru Nnack Dev ji said himself God is every where. So do we treat all loactions in the world as holy places ... i think not. If people are really bothered take it to a recyling places do the eviroment some good.

when bharatdesh (khalisitan) had already created sewage systems, these dum british in the 1800's came up with the lavatory toilet in england. its inital conception was of a wide bench that had holes in it to sit on and s*** down ....... then they used keep sticks in front of each hole so that you could grab the stick and push the **** down the main drain pipe with it. the one side of the stick used to be completely dirty from the previous user ...... and you was ment to grab the correct side of the stick not the s*** side.

now thats what your doing to my last post ........ "grabbing the wrong end of the stick"

IT LOOKS LIKE THE AKAAL TAKTH NEED TO MAKE A HUKAMNAMA BANNING ANY GURBANI IN NEWSPAPERS, OR POSSIBLY REGISTER IT TO THE KHALSA PANTH OR GURU JI...IF THE AKAAL TAKHT JATHEDAR ("VEDANTHI") IS NOT WILLING TO TAKE THE STEP HE SHOULD BE MADE TO RESIGN OR CHUCKED OUT BECAUSE I BET MOST SIKHS NOW, AFTER THE RAAM RAHIM INCIDENT, THINK THAT HE CAN'T DO HIS JOB RIGHT.

Sorry if I misunderstood you. If reading my last post made you want to puke, then I'm sorry but you must have real problems with people with differing opinions to yourself. Just to clarify what I'm trying to say:

Reality on ground = Sikh youth becoming increasingly estranged from heritage.

Your proposal = Get rid of information that may bring them into contact with their heritage in a form they can access because of possible beadbi

What will probably happen as a result in my opinion = Even more estrangement of the youth

What is so sickening about this?

Bhai Vir Singh used to create pamphlets/tracts to educate Sikhs when the printing press was introduced to the Panjab, so it isn't like this is something new. It has been going on for over a hundred years. Why has it become a problem for you now?

Personally a lot of what people firstly learn of Sikhi comes from printed sources like that. If you were to get rid of them, how many people will you disadvantage?

Should we remove all books on Sikhism from libraries because they usually have bani translations in them somewhere. Plus the library has loads of other books around, some of them pornographic?

Don't get offended, try and express yourself to me instead.

Threatening to leave the forum is silly.

fateh,

lets all leave this forum because its just manoranjan, meet at our local and bang our dumalle together as to how we can sort this problem out because the committee members could't give a toss

Your proposal = Get rid of information that may bring them into contact with their heritage in a form they can access because of possible beadbi.[/i]

not anywhere have i said that this. what i have said is not to use gurbani pangatee's .......theres nothing wrong with using transliterations on there own but no they have to include the original maharaaj saroop ...... besides most people can't read gurmukhi anyway so your arguements invalid.

go and do a quantitative survey of how many uk citizens can read gurmukhi ......not even 1%.

just because no body in the last twenty years has saw the importance of sikhi parchaar, doesn't mean now you lift the floodgates and put gurbani everywhere .........this only devalues gurbani and that is wrong. i'm telling you guys this is no book and not commercialism this is gupt bani parghat hoe ....show it some respect
