I see lotts of times people posting links to bhangra videos, sites, and other stuff such as sikh-to-muslim conversion sites, all in an effort to show people whats going on

But you have to know you are promoting their thing too.

Although you want to show the bad things, you are promoting them and their 'bad thing' and especially posting it on this forum with singhs and singhness to see is ridiculous. We all know bhangra, etc is not sikhi and manmat, but posting videos here like we dont know what bhangra is just plain dumb Maybe some people are from the bhangra taems who come here adn promote their stuff.

What i want to say is, eiter if it's conversion stuff, etc keep it off the site cuz telling someone to read that stuff , is you helping the other people in their real purpose = to spread even if knowing th person knows it is to convert, if some 'points' stick in ur mind, your trapped.

As far as i know, all these of these videos are posted in seperate topics and the ones who view em know what to expect. I know what you are trying to say that punjabi culture and Bhangra n stuff have got nothing to do with Sikhi but does being a Sikh mean you should not do anything other than doing paath and japing naam :@ ...

punjab and sikhs have a strong bond and some sikhs take proud in being punjabis as well and if they reflect that by some posting (staying in gurmaryada) I don't see nothing wrong with it...

Khadkoo ji,

I know ya'll gonna diss me for this but I feel like saying it... blush.gif

How do I put it - so far my experience on SS - If want to know a Sikhi related question, then you are doing manmat (questioning the faith), if you just expressing your opinion, then it manmat (going against majority :@), if you are saying something thats a little off Sikhi like u mentioned Panjabi clips n stuff, then again its manmat...

mann I've never been confused about manmat in my entire life... tongue.gif

Not everyone is the same or thinks the same and thats the beauty of a being...

Do u honestly think a Sikh can't have a balanced life and be a Panjabi as well... afterall, we "The Sikhs" have a history and a connection with Panjab.

By reading your comments the thing that crosses my mind is as if you are trying to say that anything that isn't Sikhi oriented is evil and wrong... :umm:

waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh!

im confused about the balance. what are we trying to balance? how to live a PUNJABI lifestyle and sikhi lifestyle at the same time?

as u know we all look at things differently and have different views..but that doesn't mean that there isn;t a "right" way! (correct me if i am wrong)

in the spiritual realm or even in this materialistic illusionist realm of life...there are right and wrong paths nd ways. we really can;t know what the rght and wrong path without the Guru and the sandhu sants of AKAL!(im not talking about the Bhekhi/fake people)

i might be a lil off topic but Jamdoot i dont want u to learn something that could be wrong. i read the topic amrit sanchar. u learned about the beauty of being at different level and seeing things differently.

but i would like u to also thing about these things to learn more about ourself and the things around us.

(we all are aware that HUMAN BEINGS FROM AGES HAVE BEEN TACKLING WITH THE SAME QUESTIONS. WE HAVE BEEN ASKING THE SAME QUESTIONS AND SOME OF THOSE QUESTIONS ANSWERS CAME ABOUT AFTER CENTURIES.)

so here is what i wantu to think about.

im not sure if we are awre of different types of philosophies/theories on life or the questions that have been asked by our ancestors( maybe it was me or u and have been reincarnated to get the answer that we asked ages ago hahahaha)

i would suggest that we look into these two term called relative TRUTH, and aboloslue truth carefully.

as far as my "brain" works i believe sikhi believes in absolute truth and not relative truth

i will post the definitions of these terms later...(using friends comp)

hope that helps in ur futire questions and helps u to look at things from a very critical point of view instead of going in circle

i think knowing these two terms will also help u in asking again to urself what does it mean to be in balance?

bhul chuk muaff karni

and if this doesn't make sense blame the philosophy prof i had 4 yrs ago lol jk

waheguru ji kakhalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

naaaw bro..apparently it ain't worth nothn... n Sikhs shouldn't associate themselves to Panjabi culture, heard that enough times now... Mr. khadkoo was dissing me posting a Bhangra video :@ but I think he failed to see that I posted that coz ppl don't really know bhangra, I felt that was what it used to be back in the dayz, and wanted to share.... all u see today is some mix of hip-hop n stuff... traditional is just gettin lost today...

Kaur khalistani lioness: maybe I am just going in circles or I am just plain dumb but not quite sure what msg u tryin to get across to me... I am miles away from philosophy... so wanna put that in layman terms... tongue.gif

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
