I would suggest eating linseed oil/flaxseed oil capsules. Next, I believe eating meat is a sin, so I would suggest not eating it. Buy yourself whey protien, you will have all the protein you need.

Kind Regards,

Drink a lot of water

Do cardio in the mornings on an empty stomach

What happens dont' workout, like do heavy weights on an empty stomach.

I would suggest running on an empty stomach, you'll find it's really hard to do, because what happens is your body is using the fat in your body as energy. You'll lose fat doing it.

I would also suggest eating cottage cheese, yogurt, and almonds, beans, anything for protein. I would look into buying green peppers/jalepenos and putting them in your salad as fat burners.. It contains capiscium which helps to burn fat.

Food

Bodybuilding on a vegetarian diet is hugely difficult if you don't eat eggs/fish. It can be done but it's a helluva lot more difficult than eating meat.

Things like nuts and legumes are important. Cottage cheese, if you can stomach it, is also good, as is low-fat cheese (it's harder than normal cheese).

Supplements

Look at the protein powders carefully, since some contain egg protein too. I used to use Met-Rx Protein plus, which was good. Maximuscle Promax has been recommended to me by others.

Creatine - at this stage, you don't need it. When you get into it (after a good year or so of regular training), you can try it out. Ignore what others might say about it screwing up your kidneys. The early studies were done on people with poor kidney function so they couldn't handle the creatine. Later studies were poorly-controlled. More recent studies show that regular use does no harm to kidney function.

Exercising

I used to do weights first thing in the morning, followed by cardio session. I once tried to lift weights on an empty stomach and felt dizzy. Found the best thing is to drink a protein shake in the morning before weights.

Since you're starting off, you need to do whole body exercises for the first month. Every session you do one compound exercise for each muscle group, and you work all muscle groups. When you first start lifting, you don't grow muscle. Instead your muscle fibres learn to fire simultaneously so you'll get stronger quickly. After around a month or so, you're muscle will start to tear and you'll grow new muscle.

Workouts should be kept as brief as possible - I used to keep them to 45-60mins, followed by 20 mins cardio.

Brief exercise plan:

Quads/Glutes - Leg Press

Hamstrings - Lying Leg Curl

Chest - Bench Press

Upper Back - Seated Cable Rows

Shoulders - Seated Machine Press

Traps - Dumbbell Shrug

Triceps - Cable Press down

Biceps - Standing EZ-Bar Curl

Lower Back - Back Extension

Abs - Crunches

You do something like that every session, 3x per week. The first week do 15 reps of an exercise in one go (one set), the second and third weeks do 2 sets. Fourth week 2-3 sets (depending on how you are doing). Adjust the weight so that you can just about do the 15th rep of each exercise.

After that, you can do a dedicated building plan where you have a set day for a set muscle group(s).

http://www.exrx.net/ is a good website, has animated GIFs of exercises so you know how to do them. Remember to never compromise form for heavy lifting. Loads of people go for the heaviest weights they can handle, ignoring form and then have injuries. Good form means that you isolate and target the muscle properly and prevents injuries.

Gurbani against consuming meat:

eating meat is no controversy.... its very simple and clear yaar... killing of any animal can never be justified by any religion... how can we kill these innocent animals only for our taste...

for those who eat meat.. i would like to ask "will they also kill their mother, father, sister and relatives for their taste?" why don't they kill them... if they can kill bakra and murga...who r not so hygiene.. then why don't their relatives... they will be more hygiene... and they will not cost them...

i don't want to hurt anyone but just want to say that no one wants to loose his beloveds ..then why r they killing animals... they r also father, mother, son of someone...

and about diet... i think u should opt for soya milk along with 2-3 bananas

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
