I am NOT going to debate the meat issue and I don't think we need to anymore either bc JAGO IS VEGETARIAN THIS YEAR!!

Great, before it was a punjabi-sikh conference, now its become a punjabi-bhaman conference.

Then good for them, leave it be, and if you have anything else to add other than ignorant comments like you just stated above, do so, or if you had as much gumption as the organizers of this conference, you could organize your OWN and do it according to how YOu want it done, instead of simply sitting on the bench and yelling out orders on how you feel it should be carried about.

Moderators: Please delete the above post by Narinder Singh and please don't allow name calling of people who have a different opinion on issues such as this.

Right, please delete my post but not the constant anti-meat comments that are being posted on this topic as well as others!

p.s. if this post of mine is deleted along with the anti-meat posts, i have no problem, however if ONLY my post is deleted, then that will confirm that the moderating team is bias.

Fateh.

Learn how to read Narinder Singh. Meat comments have been moderated from both sides. You've been called out on it before by another guest. People are asking that food choices be available for those who are vegetarian. Stop getting so defensive. Sheesh.

www.jagomiami.com ?

looks like a bunch of *edited* to me,,

dey serve meat, have parties, have no daily Nitnem and dey call it a "sikh conference"

*edited* dey should be callin it "Annual Punjabi Fashion Show Mela"

In the last two years "sikhs" use the conference as an excuse to go clubbing and partying where many of them drink. i went the previous year and that was all that was going on. last year a group of guys (2 of which were roommates with a friend of mine) repeatedly went to strip clubs throughout the conference. The attendance at nitnem was low (according to the diwan organizers only about 5 people would ever show up for nitnem, out of 100) as was the attendance at many of the "gurbani based lectures". Most food served had eggs or meat in them, and at some snack times there was no other choice except egg laden cakes and cookies.
Great post. I couldn't agree more. Jago could be something amazing. But it hasn't evolved yet and they haven't decided that they want to be something bigger than a social scene. Perhaps next year they will finally grow up? They are usually worried about numbers and getting people to go down to Florida. Maybe next year the focus will shift, gursikh rehit will be kept and the south florida sangat's money won't be used to plump up people with more meat. Maybe the organizers will genuinely heed advice given and turn it into an actual "Jago" instead of exploiting the name. Money wasted on cruises and such crap could be used for genuine sewa. One can only hope.
LOL. The only complaints I heard is that people don't WANT to do wake up early in the morning and some had never done it before. Nitnem is not a personal thing, its something best done in the company of the SadhSangat. The people who went to clubs, parties and strip clubs the night before and those hanging out at all hours of the night eating Checkers burgers are the ones who were not coming in the morning for nitnem. Without daily discipline there is no Sikh. Just accept that what you are doing is not a sikh movement but a punjabi social movement.
Harinder Singh is the biggest "pro-meat eater" I know. And he disgracefully uses Gurbani to back it up.
If you would not serve meat in a Gurdwara then don't use its money for that purpose. No one leaves Gurdwara feeling like the Guru's way was not good enough or that they were not fed properly. We shouldn't hesitate to enforce the same a Sikh events.

Have anything more to say "guests"?

Isnt that what you've been doing? Yelling orders? I've simply responded to all the hypocrites who are bashing meat-eaters but getting all loud and garm when someone responds to their nonsense.

Maybe you should research what Sant Bhindranwale said about meat since your parading his picture around while making promeat comments.

Do you not drink chaa? Do you believe that ALL of the writings in Dasam Granth and Sarbloh Granth are of Guru Gobind Singh ji? Do you believe that Mool Mantar is up to "nanak hoise be sach" and not "gurparsad"? Do you believe that and Amritdhari who is caught drinking should have gasoline poured all over him and set on fire?

If so, then you have every right to make such a statement, if not, then keep quite.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
