Ive done a bit of work in both magistates and crown courts, but i dont wear a kirpan. They will ask you to take it off when you step through the metal detector and pat you down, but they should let you keep it on afterwards if you explain it's part of your religion.

It depends on the court, they were alot more strict at the magistrates than the crown for some reason.

Fateh Ji. I've been magistrates court about 4 times now and I'm only 21 :D. They start off by asking you to take off all personal possessions....wallet, mobile etc which they keep and give you a number for collection. Then you walk thru the metal detector. I wear a kara and it did not go off so I think you will be okay!! I don't wear a kirpan though but if my kara did not go off then I don't think the kirpan will...

Of course you cannot wear a kirpan in court. That is like walking into an airport with one. The authorities have to eliminate all possibilities of threats...even though we all know that a kirpan is not a threat...but they do not know. There is no use arguing to wear your kirpan in the court room because the opposition has too much of a reason to not allow it. Just youtube anything that has to do with courtroom assaults or court shootings and you will know why.

Depends on where the court is. If it's UK, you can wear one (not too big though).

The authorities restricting the kirpan isn't about 'eliminating threats'. It's just paranoia. If they wanted to remove threats, they'd have to restrict pens, glass bottles, etc. The kirpan isn't a genuine threat.

I have been to crown court and as above user said that you just explain and they call head of security who escorts you. If they cause any fuss tell them to check the offensive weapons clause and can also check with London Met Police.
