There is no conflict between freewill and Vahegurus Hukam. Hukam can be seen as divine law for all Sargun creation. Here it is happening and you are part of it, but because it’s happening in the background it not so obvious. Our everyday existence our situations that create emotional ups, downs, highs and lows etc etc everything that comes to us externally is also in a way hukam. We follow Rehit for example this is a different type of Hukam, here the Hukam is direct more personal more obvious this is could be the turning point away from where we may have been destined etc.

How we deal with all concepts of Hukam is according to our freewill. Freewill is not controlled by anyone but us, the tendencies, desires that make up a part of our behaviour or what we call I. How “I” is made up is according Karma, fundamentally what you sow is what you reap “apai beej apai he khahoo”. My understanding here is the gift of freewill to be used fruitfully by obtaining consciousness and awareness in physical life by planting the seed we will reap the benefits, the fruits of our spiritual, temporal existence will benefit us towards salvation, mukti, liberation.

If the Papi is committing Pap he too is gifted with the same freewill, he chooses his actions as we all do. However he too is subject to indirect and direct Hukam as we all are.

hukmai andar sabh ko, bahir hukam na koai.

nanak hukmai jai bujhai, ta homai kehai na koai.

All are subject to His Will, and no one is exception. Nanak says: When man realizes His Will and adjusts accordingly, then his egoism die of itself

changaaeia buraaeia vachai dharam hadoor

karmi aapo aapni kai nairhai kai door.

Good and bad deeds performed in life are examined by Lord of Justice (Dharam Raj) in the presence of the Lord. It is our actions, which keep us near or far away from the Lord.

veer

if i was tryuing to make sence of theories, i cud have posted many

we talked about this when i used tot ake phipspgu, fre will vs destiny

thas not wa im intrested in

im trying to get wa guru jes saying. plz read my piost again and the thuks from anand sahib

ure last senteces didnt make sence, at least to me

maybe i need u to clarify

u cant have free will, and at the same time have vaheguru dicating everything as his play

well u cud if gurbani says it but we cant understand it until we learnt he laws of the universe, which requires mad bhagthi

guru je says in anand sahib as u dicate, eveything happens

a bhagath is a bhagath soley because vaheguru wishes it

but then that doesnt mean theres free wil involved, free willw ud mean im becoming a bhagth

and thas wat japji sahib says when it says apai beej apai he khahoo

but those two dont agree with each other, well they do, but they dont APPEAR to be, im missing the entire meanig

like i said this question isnt gonna be easy to solve, no matter wat uve told ureself

a child cannot grasp physics, but maybe if we talk about it we might get a better understanding

i really jus posted this out of curosity, it really doesnt matter to me if vaheguru deos something or ifim doing it

at the end of the day, i always think vaheguru is the cause for everything

his bhagthi is wa we shud be ulitmatley trying to do, and only then will we know the truth about he universe

"u cant have free will, and at the same time have vaheguru dicating everything as his play"

I feel it is something along the lines of accepting that everything is under the command of God. He can do anything he feels with a blink of an eye. But while we submit to God's will and realize he is all knowing and can change anything at anytime.. we still have free will and should act realizing that in the bigger scheme of things we are under his will.

We often here individuals claim that if Guru Sahib wills it, only then will they get into sikhi. Only if Waheguru does kirpa, only then will they stop drinking smoking etc. But in that case.. why do we eat? If everything is strictly in God's will, then Waheguru Ji would pick up the fork and feed me. Why do I get up in the morning? everything is in God's command and he should be getting me up.. So this argument is a bit childish and we should realize we do have free will.. but at teh same time we should all submit to God's will and the fact that Guru Sahib can do or change anything at anytime.. Just remember we are rewarded for our good actions and everything is fair in God's court. This is how i look at it.. if it made any sense. It is a difficult topic to say in words.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
