The Dumalla was /is part of a warriors uniform. In this Shabad, Guru Ji describes themself as Akaal Purakh's wrestler in a battle against 5 enemies.

It's important not to take single Tuks out of context.

not entirely sure but ive been told tht the battle is referring to the daily battle with our vices. in a historical context the dastaar would have been a symbol of victory.

well i was listening to giani thakur singh ji's katha for the very same verse and way he described it was tht these lines are the proof from guru granth sahib point of view that makes it necessary for all sikhs to have dastar

this is one of the many shabads. its not directly mandating that all Sikhs wear dastar, but it does hint that wearing one is required for a Sikh
