Vaisakhi Handsworth Mela Trial......

The Trial for the singhs charged with the Attempted murder of Ravinder Powar has concluded 2 singhs have been acquitted, 3 had no decsion from the jury.

It is remarkable that despite proving that powar had lied repeatedly in court, the jury still could not decide. Why?

They could not accept that a man in intensive care after being attacked could go so low as to lie about the people who attacked him, but its clear that he did.

Even worse for us as a community, he is an Amritdhari gursikh a man in a position of repsect, a former president of Smethwick Gurdwara, he took an oath on a Gutka Sahib and lied repeatedly it was embarrasing for the members of the community watching.

What ever we think, one thing is certain, the Sikh nation has been tarnished proabably beyond repair by this episode

To be honest I am now beyond caring about the whole fiasco, it's like a plot to a zee tv drama serial. I can hear the over dramatic background music and can see the curling moustache over acted scenes!!

CPS will decide next monday (19th May) whether to go ahead with a Retrial or not.

no point blaming powar, should blame the real people that dun it - no doubt they know exactly wats goin with the trial......if someone thinks they doin kaum di seva then they should follow the likes of Sukha and Jinda (killed general vaidya) and Manjeet Singh and Rajinder Singh (who killed darshan dashi) own up and take their punishment on the chin...........that would save the innocent Singhs that are on trial wouldnt it????

Exactly how I see it too! When no one sticks their neck on the line then you know the intentions cannot have been truly “panthic”. There was no panthic motive behind the whole Vasakhi tamasha or the Smethwick takeover, the whole thing was one big battle of egos.

Whoever really slashed Powar in the name of the “panth” should have come forward and given himself up in the name of the “panth”, like a true hero would. Then some of these innocent lads wouldn’t have had to go through this whole drama.
