Activists of various organisations, including the Hindu Shiv Sena and the Bajrang Dal, burnt the effigy of civil aviation minister Praful Patel to protest against the non-installation of a model of the Durgiana Temple at the Rajasansi International airport here today.

Surinder Kumar Billa, president of the Sena, said despite repeated reminders to the airport authorities, the model, which was removed during the renovation of the terminal building, had not been installed.

He demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident and action against the airport authorities. The model, he said, was lying in the godown of the airport, but the authorities had been denying this. On the other hand, the airport authorities have maintained that the model was removed during renovation and negotiations were on with the Durgiana Temple Trust to install a new model to resolve the issue.

and if anyone has gone to rajasansi airport is last month or so, they have removed Sri Harmandir Sahib's model from waiting lounge.

this is very serious issue, shd be raised at all levels with sikh authorities and organisations.

jass, MOD EDIT after the so call durgiana mandir model was removed Khadur sahib walay babay put a real gold plated model in airport launge with glass covering around it. thts wht these shiv-sainaks were after. MOD EDIT

What he meant was when Rajasansi doesn't have Harmander Sahib's model for which Amritsar is famous world over,how come *edited* goondas(so called shiv sena) is asking for model of Durgiana mandir which has no historical significance and where Amritdharis were asked to remove their kirpan before entering ?

If Shiv sena in Punjab has guts why dont they protest against balaatkaari sirsa saadh who is MOD EDIT their sisters (Hindu girls) also alongwith some Sikh girls.

How come Hindus are calling for installing Durgiana Mandir's model when they know construction work is going on at Rajasansi ?

They are in fact doing all this agitation on some pretext or the other -sometimes against inflation -sometimes for installing mandir's model at Rajasansi airport - just to torpedo the Sikh agitation .

Im very happy their begairat leader in Amritsar who has not spoken against saudaa saadh and who is seen laughing shamelessly at anti Sikh jokes on indian tv ..the so called mashkhara of bjp ..navjot sidhu has suffered a collar hairline fracture from a water canon in chandigarh recently.He should have suffered bullet injuries .

i have to agree with your point...we know the true stance of Shiv Sena but we don't need to make up stories, we're only making it harder for our own cause because we're adding more paap to ourselves by fabricating things...this is what the dushman has always done but the Khalsa has always remained ture in both speach and action.

However, after reading both Jassa's and das_nimana's comments i've come to the conclusion that Shiv Shena are doing this protest for one reason, to take away the media's attention from the Sirsa Baba and the protests the Sikhs are doing...why else are they protesting about the Durgian Mandi model when clearly construction work is going on? Their protest would only be justified if the construction was complete and the model was not placed there...as it stands, their protest contains no substance...there their intention is to divert the attention away from the Sirsa Baba issue.
