This is an absolute Truth, my degree and that of my friends, family, relatives are all worth nothing. Not one of us has got a job off of our degree. The time is coming where MA or MSc will be considered the Minimal requirement, soon followed by PHd being a minimal requirement, before which we will need to introduce another 2 years to the already 12 year long education system just to work.

Heads up to everyone, Study, study hard and be top in your fields, else you will just be phased out.

People might call me crazy, but I feel in the future there will be terrible energy crisis, energy shortages, resource wars, anarchy and all the college degress, grades, etc will go down the toilet.

So instead of a degree, a person needs to have a real life skill like making weapons, battlefield medicines, farming, welding, carpentary. These skills are going to be of great use in the future.

So idealy sikh bhujangis shud not go to college, but if they want to go, make sure they remain DEBT FREE, and yes do carry a gandassa to ur college as the colleges are not going to remain safe in the future.

Such plightful thinking, but indeed I agree that basic life necessitating skills are vital, including self defence.

Scientists have said that if Human Race is too survive, we need to find a habitat beyond Earth, on another Planet.

The Dinosaurs lived for 650 million years and became extinct in a very short span of time. Man has been around for only 20 million years on earth. Someone said that instead of trying to find how the dinosaurs became extinct, we should try to find how they survived for so many years.

In about 100 years man would be fighting for existence. Water resources becoming scarce every day, earth heating up each moment, countries like India, known for water resources would be without major rivers that contribute water. Ganges is going to become seasonal in 25 years, imagine what would happen when that happens? The Artic Circle, for the first time in millions of years, broke up into two halves and ships were able to sail through it's centre without hindrance. On top of that there is going to be major food shortage, there have been riots in some countries over food this year. The major energy source, oil, when it ends everything would stop in developing and under developed world. Nuclear energy can replace oil energy, but Muslims would first want to bomb Europe and America and others if they get Nuclear energy. So, they won't get that, thanks to America. There is going to be major crisis in 100 years.

There are only two solutions as of now. Either, Human population gets reduced to 1/4th of present population (how will that happen? a big Astroid bang could do that but it can also wipe out the entire human race), or we need to move to another planet which is similar to earth in atmosphere, resources etc. (in short which can sustain life), soon. Fingers crossed.

Interesting topic all around.

Regarding college degrees:

Vocational degrees (optometry, medicine, pharmacy, engineering, law, accountancy etc etc) which are based on a supply and demand market will not become worthless.

Humanities degrees already are useless.

Regarding apne's post:

This may be slightly harsh, but a nuclear war is perhaps what is needed (to reduce the world's population drastically to free up resources etc etc). The question for people like the Sikhs is: how to stay the hell out of it.

The most likely scenario is that some Muslim country (Iran) will either develop or use nuclear missiles (Pakistan already has them) on a Western nation or its ally (most likely Israel). This would result in most of the Arab world being gutted. (Another scenario is if China becomes a full on superpower and the Muhammedans attempt a bombing spree in Beijing. China will not hesitate to devastate the Arab world via nuclear means).

So long as India stays out of it, the bulk of us will be safe. But then we must also remember that Pakistan is very close to our Punjab, and that it is likely that any Western-Islamic war will involve Pakistan. If they are hit, so will our Punjab be.

Food for thought indeed...

<< There is going to be major crisis in 100 years.>>

hahaha, we are already in a major crisis, the starting phase of it. The bubble has already bursted, its only a matter of time(months/years) before things start to get really bad.

Regarding India, well.. even if India is not involved in nuclear war, it will still get completelly destroyed because of internal chaos, riots, muslims killing hindus, north east, oil shortage, food shortage, pakistan attack and a possible china attack.

Modern medicine is entire dependent on fossil fuels.

Automobiles:

The construction of an average car consumes the energy equivalent of approximately 20 barrels (840 gallons) of oil. Ultimately, the construction of a car will consume an amount of fossil fuels equivalent to twice the car’s final weight.

It's also worth nothing that the construction of an average car consumes almost 120,000 gallons of fresh water. Fresh water is also rapidly depleting and happens to be absolutely essential to the petroleum refining process as each gallon of gasoline requires almost two gallons of fresh water for refining.

Computers:

The construction of the average desktop computer consumes ten times its weight in fossil fuels.

Microchips:

The production of one gram of microchips consumes 630 grams of fossil fuels. According to the American Chemical Society, the construction of single 32 megabyte DRAM chip requires 3.5 pounds of fossil fuels in addition to 70.5 pounds of water.

The Environmental Literacy Council tells us that due to the "purity and sophistication of materials (needed for) a microchip, . . . the energy used in producing nine or ten computers is enough to produce an automobile."
