without arguing or turning nasty could someone please state whether we should acknowledge hindu gods (shiv ji etc) backed by gurbani or do their teachings mean nothing to us and should stay away from the mandhir etc...and why ppl still tend to go their.

Well they exist... There are millions of Bhrama's, Vishnu's and Shiv Ji's..

Guru Ji said that Bhrama realised his Ling Chakar and realised how this creation was created, but people misunderstood him and started to think that he is the creator!

Also.. how Bhrama was filled with haumai when he saw nothing in the creation other than himself.. but he couldnt even find the limit of the stem of the lotus flower he was born from!!

Well that's confusing cos a lot of hindus believe in the trinity i.e. shiv (destroyer), brahma (creator) and vishnu (protector) - all being characteristics (if you will) of 1 supreme being. That can't be right, because don't we bieleve that God needs personify themselves...ever...

I thought in sikhi we take inspiration from some of the stories like about 'Goddess Chandi Ma' and draw strength from them...like when going to battle...

Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj and Dasme Granth Sahib often states how a lot of these stories or devi/devtas are flawed...

mwieAw mohy dyvI siB dyvw ]

maaeiaa mohae dhaevee sabh dhaevaa ||

All the gods and goddesses are enticed by Maya.

I know that Guru Ji acknowledges the existance of them here, but I think if you read the shabad carefully (Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Gauree on Pannaa 227 ) it's more than just that....(but I think it's another topic)

Anyways history shows that the hindu gods have been continuously changing over thousands of years, since when (or maybe before) the Aryans arrived in the region.

Whether or not the stories are true, I myself DO take inspiration from a few works such as Bhagvad Gita and Mahabarat but there's no real need to look to these when we have Sri Guru Granth Sahib...and we should never pray to them because we have Waheguru anyways...

Gurfatehji,

"kaal paayein brahma bapu dhara.. kaal paayein sivju avtara.. kaal paayein kar bisn prakasa.. sagal kaal ka kiya tamasa"... from Choupai Saahib...

I infer that God ... God is ALMIGHTY.. a power..an aura.. god is in our anaahad.... it is a spirit that inhabits our each [pore.. he is within each of us and yet beyond the bondage of form, birth or death or era.

Anyone who is bound by form, birth and death cannot be god.. he/she can only be a diety... maybe a better human being.. closer to god..

hindu Gods. Your case is doomed right here. God/Gods (God is Ajooni)

Shiv Ji etc are IDOLS of hinduism and Sikhism is completely against Such Idol worship so going to Mandir is nothing less of an Idol worship.

Idol worship is the lowest type of meditation and it is designed for weak minds. Guru up lifted your mind and freed you from this weakness and gave you Shabad for meditation and it did wonders what IDOL worship couldn't do in centuries.

People who go to Mandir's obviously have no clue about Gurbani. Why do you want to go back to IDOL worship which really never worked? Be a true Sikh and if your turn to Gurbani then it will not fail you.

Sikh religioin opposes worship of gods & goddesses, natural forces, yag and offering of sacrifices, caste division and other idelogy of the Vedas. Sikh religion believes in ONE GOD and lays emphasis on Nam Simran & singing of praises of the LORD. On the Contrary, vedas dwell on the Lord very very marginally. SGGS Ji holds the following views on this.

Sabh Sai upar Gur Sabad Bichar.

Some other Veer here mentioned something about Devi being symbolic or something. Then moving onto naina devi episode when Brahmins failed to produce the devi then Guru Gobind Singh Ji put the worshipping articles in the burning fire of the Havan and unsheathing his sword declared that no Sikh will fall a prey to the guiles & doubts of such rituals.

The true Devi is this sword which is symbolic of power. Guru jis has described Devi as a maid servant in the house of the Eternal Lord:

Charn sarn jih Bast Bhawani.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji has said that the Devi whom Guru Angad Dev Ji has accepted as cleaning woman of the house of Guru Nanak, only foolish can serve the Servant.

Thakur Chhod dasi kao simreh,

Manmukh andh agiana. Page 1138

Enough of hindu Gods? (LOL)

If you have asked this question obviously you have not studied Guru's Bani otherwise you wouldn't be asking this Question. Are you A Sikh? if yes then when will you become A KHALSA?

Guru Fateh.
