Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!!

Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

sangat jeeo...the nagar kirtan (surrey) yesterday was probably one of the best i've ever been too...i met so many chardi kala gursikhs

however..there were a few things that didnt belong in teh nagar kirtan

There was a float based solely on punjabi culture...it had little girls dressed in fancy punjabi suits and little boys with the traditional farmer look...nothing against punjabis celebrating the harvest season and all, but this is a nagar KIRTAN... held for vaisakhi... so we had the punj piarey followed by guru sahib at the front of the nagar kirtan and then at the end there were these little children waving around their colouful punjabi-style fans (and i think they were even playing punjabi songs).

another thing...this is just sad...my sister and i found a cigarette...in the parking lot of Dasmesh Darbaar Gurdwara...which is just soo pathetic.

who in their right mind would be so careless and ignorant enough to bring a CIGARETTE to a gurdwara??? so close to where there's sangat and guru granth sahib jee?? im still pretty shocked by this...

other than that, it was pretty awesome.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji

i also attended the week long Vaisakhi celebrations at Dasmesh Darbar. As you know, due to the arrival of the amusement rides in the parking lot and due to the construction of the new building, there are alot of construction workers are carnival ppl around. The cigarette must have been theirs.

Think about it, even a Punjabi person who is not into Sikhi would not dare smoke a cigarette in the Gurdwara Sahib complex. If anybody saw him he would be insulted and probably beaten up. So, its likely the cigarette belonged to either a construction worker or one of the carnival ppl there.

ok well i hope it wasn't someone who came there to actually go to the gurdwara...but i think they should put up no smoking signs...if there's gonna be non sikhs there.

If anybody saw him he would be insulted and probably beaten up.

actually...that's what i thought too...but i told my brother about the cigarette and he told me that he even saw someone smoking on gurdwara grounds once...and i asked him if he did anything about it...and he's like "no...if they're going to hell its none of my business"

so not everyone will do something about a situation like that

Regarding thew little kids in Punjabi suits??

So what, the vasaiki parade is not only about religion, but about celebrating Sikhism. The parents of those kids were probably so proud of them.

Miss Gurjeet Kaur, have you ever seen vasaiki in India? Now that's a site!

:umm:
