Don't know what possessed me to start this all of 14 years ago. Looking at the date, it might have been an April Fool's joke. 

 

I think the answer to the question in the OP is obvious to anyone amongst us who isn't a deluded fantasist.

It's also interesting to note that over a decade after posting we can see that the taliban did eventually defeat the multiple western powers arraigned against them and even took their weapons off them. Go figure.
