Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh

Games that normally work for say under 11's

Musical Chairs (but with a vaja doing simran, or a sevadar with a loud voice doing simran)

Musical statues (again do simran)

pass the parcel(again use a vaja or do simran rather than music)

EYE-SPY - but with things in a Gurdwara

Chinese Whispers(with sikhi terms - Guru'Sahibs names/ the Gurfateh) This game works really well with the youngest kids

Mr Singh says ( sikhi version of simon says)

Sikhi word searches - you can generate these online

Little kids at camps as well as learning should have fun and have a big smile on their faces, for little kids keep things simple.

Another game is a sikhi version of fruit salad.

Basically sit the kids in a circle(on Chairs) and give them a name each. For example using the topic seva/simran/sangat give each child one of the names. When you call one of the names, the kids have got to run to another chair, and the last 1 is out. And if you call all 3 at once, they all have to run. This can be quite fun with older kids too if it's made enegetic and fun. Also during the games you can do vichar of the names you use

Topics/names can be changed to fit in with wutever theme you are doing for the camp etc. e,g Sahaibzadei, Historical Gurdwara, famous sikh bibi

One word of caution, if you do the sikhi fruit salad game, make sure you are in a big safe space, we've seen a few kids literally go flying running to a chair, especially older kids who get very competitive!!!!!!

For older kids 14+, do interactive stuff that gets them involved

Quiz - The Weakest Sikh(based on weakest Link. This can be made fun but learn at same time.

Pardhan for the day - get kids to prodcue a timetable of programmes/events/actvities they would want if they were the pardhan for the day

Drama - acting out role plays, can be on social topics like bullying etc too.

Darstar tying competitions

Roti making competitions.

Important to have sevadar (especially with older kids (14-17) who can be interactive and have a bit of a laugh with the kids especially for ice-breaker/fun actvities type of stuff.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh ji

Also for the say 17+ (i.e sikh societies/camps etc) you generally find the sangat who turn up want to be there and thus want to learn so more faiclitated workshops that are inetractive and give every1 a chance to ask questions and get involved are more appropriate

A veer Sahib did one yesterday at a youth group thing, and it was kewl.

get a roll of toilet paper and have them tear off as much as they want(they are responsible for every bit they tear off) and once everyone is done tearing sheets they have to share as many facts about themselves that they tore off the roll. :D I just grabbed it and tore off ten sheets and was like omg, I had the most everyone else tore off 1-5 sheets :p

I thought it was neat and had fun listening to the facts about everyone, you get a sense about all the people in the group when you hear the stuff you never knew about them etc..........

At a camp just recently, we split the youth into small groups and left them to see how could make the best Nishaan Sahib.

Gave them:

Paper Cups

Straws

Sellotape

String

Orange Cloth

Markers

Scissors

Helped break the ice between people in the groups and everyone enjoyed it and had fun plus everyone learnt about the Nishaan Sahib
