I met my husband while studying at college, we got married and have 2 beautiful children, my husband took his amrit last year on vasakhi, my son is a singh and my daughter knows what our religion is about. We go to gurdwara each week, constantly have the sikh chanel on in our house. A few people kept pressuring me to take amrit when my husband did which made me angry as I felt I should when im ready not because people are telling me to, this made me say to everyone that i will never to do. I told my husband that if it was right for him then he should do it and I will support him 100% which I have, it was hard at first for me to come to terms with, as his appearence changed and I didnt know what to feel. He used to go out all the time, but suprised alot of people. Secretly in my heart i have been thinking about taking it myself, i need to make sure that its what i want but i dont know who to ask, as i need to know a few things like what i can and cant do, is there anyone that can answer my questions, i didnt want to put them here as some may sound really stupid. I feel i cant ask any family members as they may try to pressure me, and thats not why i want to do it, i want to do it because its right for me.

Bhenji, leave me PM if u like about ur personal questios. I recently took amrit (in april, it will be 2 yrs). Lets see if I can be any help. I don't consider myself pro, but can clear up some simple basic doubts you may have in ur mind. I am a person with kids and working life, typical grahsiti, as well.

I see your username is not active to send you PM, so had to write it here. Please feel free to contact if you like.

PKaur ji,

I would suggest that you get in touch with

http://kaursunited.org/

http://www.kaurageous.com/

http://www.sikhwomen.com/

Moreso it would be an excellant idea to attend a sikhi camp where you can meet and learn from practicing Sikh women.

Take time & then decide.
