Learning From Our 'enemies'

I believe protest's can be very successful and are still very effective today, only if conducted correctly.

We need to get more intelligent with doing protests, I'm not an anarchist but we really need to be looking at how anarachists conduct protests.

We should be studying the G8 protests. The anarchists that organise them know what to do, where to do it, when to do what and how far they can go without the police charging. We sitting at home don't realise but they the anarchists actually are controlling the police as they are aware of the boundaries and know how to gain public sympathy by engaging the media.

Even if we look back in our history and look at the Jetho Moorchae...they very very well organised, pacifist and ultimately successful because they followed through with no regards for the consqeuences.

The problem we have is that there will only be 500 protesters but everyone will have a kirpan unsheathed and waving it in the air. From a media perspective, if people are doing this no matter how unjust th police get, the media will justify their actions because the Sikhs were hostile first and from a non-Sikh point of view that is how it will com across. This doesn't mean Sikhs don't wear their Gatra/siri sahib on the outside. They need to be large in size and follow through is essential.

In not in anyway trying to belittle any of those Gursikhs that protested that day because i whole-heartedly salute them fore they strood up. What i am saying is that our leaders need to be be more visionaries, strategic and know how to play the game. Our leaders need to know how to play the media game too and know how to win them over. It is not longer enough just to win over sympathy from Sikhs alone.

Ulitmately as AK-47 has said, we need to start looking at why these fake-Guru's are so successful esp on social issues...we need to be fighting on that battlefild too.

Very good post. We're not dissing our Sikh protesters, but we still need good planning for any future actions.
