WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA!WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH!

Sadha sangat ji in sikhi it is not allowed to touch the feet of elders e.g. a new wedded couple girl touching the feet of her in laws and boy touching the feet of his in laws.

Also when a sikh meet some elder they touch the feet of elders, but it is not allowed rite???????????

Plz do explain it.....................

according to sikhi a person should only bow his/her head to SHRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI and no one else rite....................

BUL CHUK MAFA!

Some people say that it is a hindu tradition and should not be encouraged. But how many shabads talk about falling at the sadh sangats feet and etc?

If you still have doubts, in Bhai Gurdas Ji's Varaan the following appears:

This Shabad is by Bhai Gurdaas Ji in Vaars Bhai Gurdaas on Pannaa 1

chouraaseeh lakh jon vich outham janam s maanas dhaehee||

Of the eighty four lacs life classes, birth as a Human is the best.

akhee vaekhan karan sun maiukh subh bolan bachan sanaehee||

Eyes behold, ears listen to and the mouth speaks sweet words.

hathhee kaar kamaavanee pairee chal sathisa(n)g milaehee||

Hands earn livelihood and feet take towards the Holy Congregation.

kirath virath kar dhharam dhee khatt khavaalan bhaae karaehee||

In human life alone by the rightful earning, out of one's savings, other needy ones are fed.

guramukh janam sakaarathhaa gurabaanee parrih samajh sunaehee||

Man by becoming Gurmukh (Guru oriented), makes his life meaningful, he reads Gurbani and makes others understand (the importance of) Gurbani.

gur bhaaee sa(n)thusatt kar charanaamrith lai mukh pivaehee||

He satisfies his companions and takes the holy water touched by their feet i.e. he inculcates complete humility.

pairee pavan n shhoddeeai kalee kaal reharaas karaehee||

Humbly touching of the feet should not be rejected because in the dark age, this quality is the only asset (of the human personality).

aap tharae gur sikh tharaehee ||3||

People of such a conduct will swim the world-ocean and also get along other disciples of the Guru.(3)

If that doesn't say enough then I dont know what will.

bakshlo,

Fateh g

y not it is a sign of respect

i mean first and foremost we are Guru Sahibs Sikhs

that is the greatest rishta

but humility is humility

Guru Sahib tells us to be the dust of all mens feet

its sweet to pairee paina

Guru Sahib Ji teaches to love and respect all

now when we matha tek we are coming to Guru Jis sharan

see that is different

do not matha tek any1

cause only Guru Sahib is sharan jog only Mahraj can give u sharan

but also remember mahraj is pargat in khalsa

My dad explained to me once that you should touch the feet of your elders such as your parents or bajurags or Gursikhs as they are roop of God. But in the hazoori of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, no one should touch anybody's feet.

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable touching anybody's feet because to me, cz I wanna keep that special place for Guru saheb only!! Everything and everybody is roop of God. But I guess touching feet of a Gursikh should be okay as this Gurbani tuk justifies it :

ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥

jo dheesai gurasikharraa this niv niv laago paae jeeo ||

When I see a Sikh of the Guru, I humbly bow and fall at his feet

I guess this all boils down to a person's comfort level. There will always be 2 sides on this issue (like all 5 million other issues in the Sikh qaum) as some will feel its ok, some will never feel its ok. Just do what keeps your GurSikh dignity intact and also doesn't offend someone else. My entire family is non-Sikh, and since childhood I have been taught to touch feet of all elders. Now since I am an Amritdhari presently, some may not like it if I still do it, some may feel its ok. Thats why I said, it all comes down to one's personal comfort level. Some say "just fold your hands and greet them", or "give them a hug", which is alright as well. Therefore do what works best in your situation. Just be sure that no matter what, we don't matha tek to anyone besides Gurujee.
