waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

Trees and plants ,

Are they cheten or jar. If they are cheten, when we cut them , do we get punished. Because most of meat eaters argue about it. Any shabad you remember regarding this and What is your opinion on this?

The design of life is very complicated and all depends on the karma of each life's past karam. It is tree's past karam that this gender less soul will have to go thru charasey lakh joon and being cut down tree is the reward this soul earned from his/her bad past karam. Same way that if a human kills a dog, he will earn bad karam which will be recorded by dharam raj and this human will be rewarded same type of dukh to him in his/her next janam or even in human life form.

vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh

i had a similar query. i asked some singhs at gurughar who responded in this way: in most of our actions we sin without knowing. yes plants are alive, yes they do have life and soul. gurbani clearly says guru ji dwells in all creation and specifically gives grains as an example.

but... we believe in 8.4 million live forms, some of these life forms are higher some are lower.

bacteria etc are lowest life forms

wheat rice and grains are very low life form

then there are figh and birds and things

then there are chickens, rusters ducks,

then theres goats, sheep etc

then theres cows, bulls etc (this may be why it is against many maryada's to kill animals from the cow family - i could be wrong)

monkeys apes

humans are highest

this is a rough hierarchy of species, ive put the lowest life forms first.... then the highest. humans are at the top because we can memorise and recite bani, do simran and seva, we have a conscience, we can act on or ignore instincts. we get sin from eating plants but much less sins. baba mihan singh ji use to limit his food to just karele and roti. ive also heard baba deep singh ji wouold only eat chickpeas. guru tegh bahadar maharaj use to eat limited food also, and not eat a variety.

plz forgive for mistakes in the above
