Caste Based Institutions Are Banned In Uk

Following concrete conformation that Caste based discrimination is now officially illegal in the UK. The British Sikh Student Federation would like to congratulate the National Secular Society on this endeavour.

For far too long Sikh Gurdwaras have been “held to ransom” by bigots who have been spread the germs and poison of Castism into the innocent minds of the British Sikh Youth. Sikh Youth in the UK have always claimed ignorance but this can no longer be tolerated. Now that we even have the “law of the land” on our side, we call on Sikh Students to take the initiative to go to all Gurdwaras in their local areas and become members. In the event that they have been refused membership because of their Caste, please inform the British Sikh Student Federation at – Info@britishsikhstudentfederation.com

Full legal means will be exercised to defend the rights of Sikhs in our places of worship and the British Sikh Student Federation pledges to rid this problem from Sikh Gurdwaras by naming any and all Gurdwaras who violate this law.

the new equality act gives the government the power to ban caste based discrimination in various areas but it hasn't yet and judging by the hindu groups the government is consulting with it could be some time before any such measure is taken - see http://www.equalities.gov.uk/equality_act_2010/faqs_on_commencement_of_the_eq/caste.aspx
