What Do Some Uninformed Americans Really Think Of Us?

I am talking about the 70s and 80s that you pointed out. Its obvious that there is a clear-cut difference between the British and American mindset, viewpoint, culture, mentality, and attitude towards non-whites. Likewise, the attitudes of Sikhs in these respective countries have taken shape.

So what is this 'American attitude' to non-whites?

Maybe the way native Indians are treated probably gives a clue......

The thing that shocks me most is the denial by some US apnay that anything is wrong. I don't get it? It appears to be misguided patriotism on their part?

It seems to be a combination of not wanting to rock the boat, coupled with genuine fear. But there is an element of not wanting to criticise their "hosts" as it were. Whether that can be construed as misguided patriotism or something else, I'm not sure.

All I can say is keep subber and keep your Sikhi sidak in tact. Now's the time for informing via the pen and mouth, most people are uneducated and we will all benefit once we realize we're more common than different.

I mean, in the huge Universe we just happen to be on Earth. We can't even fathom the realm of Waheguroo and yet we're all on a blue dot in the infinite space yet we find very minute differences to separate ourselves from each other. Once we break this gap, we can truly love and understand each other.

Waheguroo mehar kare, such a time comes when all humans can truly understand one another and make this place a paradise for all who come and have his or her own journey.

Okay, if they aren't in a position to be critical themselves, we can understand given their fear and not wanting to stick out. But some of them even stop others criticising???

Death of your conscious is a sure death...

Singh559 - nice post but I think we will always have to deal with people who can't control their 5 thieves in an extreme way.

Plus lets be frank. A fair portion of those ignorants don't really care a toss if you are Sikh or Muslim and just want to act like aggressive j-erks.
Absolutely

What that history reflects is not necessarily the present scenario, but in some instances the mindset.

I don't think it is a particularly American mindset but a more general western European white one. You could see that very same attitude in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa etc.

OUT OF ALL THAT IGNORANCE AND HATRED....THERE WAS ONE COMMENT WHICH STOOD OUT LIKE A LOTUS FLOWER IN MUDDY WATER...

cskay replying to moe47 thumbs_up_w_f2_16.pngthumbs_down_w_f2_16.png? 0 thumbs_up_w_16.png0 thumbs_down_w_16.png <BR class=clear>moe47, please do some googling first on who the sikhs are. Here are some clues :these turbins were the biggest foreign force to fight with allied forces in Word Wars.British gave these turbins 50% reservation in British Indian army even though there population proportion was 1%.

These turbins are the reason that whole of south-east asia was not converted to Islam because these turbins fought with the muslim invaders on same afghanistan border where even american unmanned drones are frightened today. These turbins are also the hardest working farmers. They were the first asian migrants that came to US and grew food and worked hard alongside your ancestors. These turbins follow a religion whose founding fathers may be the only example in history who sacrificed there lives for liberty and freedom of another religion. Posted 1 hour ago

BTW that was me rolleyes.gif .

On serious note, it is important for us to be careful on how we respond to such hatred on online forums. We shouldn't lower ourselves to there level and do name-calling etc. It is important to remember that for every unreasonable person commenting there, there are 100 perfectly reasonable people reading it. We just need to reply and make our point for the sake of those people. Let them make there own mind. If the troll continues to name-call, don't respond. Our guru's have prepared and taught us to be above all this. We need to remember the story of saint and the crab. If they don't change their nature, we shouldn't change ours.

Sorry if this may seem lecturing.
