Guru Nanak Dev Ji uchaard the Chaar Laavaa(n) in the Roop of Guru Raam Daas Ji so before our fourth Guru Saahb how did the previous Guru's get married? Especially how did Guru Nanak Dev Ji get married? Sorry I was just thinking and couldn't come a conclusion...thank you.

Veer Ji, Guru Nanak Dev Ji wrote out the Mool Mantar. Placing the Bani on a higher level and in clean rumallai Maharaaj did parkarma around the Mool Mantar. You are correct in that Guru Raam Das Ji then intorduced the recital of Lavaan for the purposes of the Anand Karaj.

I have wondered this to, I thought the first four Gurus ceremonies took place in the Hindu tradition and from Guru Arjan dev ji onwards it was the Anand Karaj ceremony?

Guru Nanak Devji did not married according to Hindu / Vedic rituals .

There is a saakhi that when Mata Sulakhni's father was to marry his daughter to Guru Nanak , he insisted that Guru Nanak marry by Hindu rites , but Guru Nanak refused to do so . They were already engaged . So , Mata Sulakhni's father thought it a bad omen and threat to his reputation among bedis to break the engagement , but he was also insisting on getting his daughter married to Guru Nanak according to vedic rituals .

So he decided to kill Guru Nanak . As Guru Nanak was sitting near a weak wall , Mata Sulakhni's father ordered his men to make that wall fall over Nanak so that Guru Nanak dies .

Mata Sulakhni heard this bad plan and relayed the news to Guru Nanak . Guru Nanak assured Mata Sulakhni that this wall won't ever fall , let alone today ! Because of Mahapurkh's words , that wall still stands today strong and there is a Gurudwara marking the site .

So Guru Nanak Devji later married Mata Sulakhani by taking laavas around baani's pothi .

brother, there are a lot of gaps in puratan granths, and most history has been passed down thru oral tradition.
