Raag Guldasta?

waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh,

what is raag guldasta? i've read that its a mixture of various different raags but which ones exactly. also, are there times when your not allowed to sing in raag guldasta. i ask that bc isnt true that raag basant and raag malaar can only be read at certain times of the yr.

no that isnt quite true. Raag Basant is always started with, in the term of Basant "Spring" at Darbar Sahib. Malaar is also sung regulalry in Basant as it signifies the light rains that india experiences at this time of year.

Guldasta means "pot" like a flower pot, and in it are bagh or orchard of raags, basically meaning that in a raag guldasta there are shabds of every or most gurmat sangeet raags.

guldasta in music is the composition where every stanza is sung in different rag , in different metre or different taal this kind of composition is sung by expert musicians , Late Bhai Avtaar Singh ji dilli wale , Late bhai Bakhshish Singh havesung many excellent compositions in this style. Now , at present time - Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa ,Bhai Amrik Singh Jakhmiand may raagis from jawaddi taksaals are good exponents of this style
