Wikileaks Reports Us Govt Noted Indian Congress'S Haterd Of Sikhs

JALANDHAR: The US was convinced of the Congress government's hand in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and termed it as "opportunism" and "hatred" of the government against Sikhs. The US also believed that the BJP leadership didn't have the courage to ask chief minister Narendra Modi to step down (following the 2002 Gujarat riots) even after PM Manmohan Singh apologised to the Sikhs after the filing of the Nanavati Commission report.

A WikiLeaks expose — that revealed a cable sent from the US Embassy in August 2005 soon after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's apology to Sikhs following the Nanavati Commission report — said, "The PM's singular act of political courage stands in exquisite contrast to the opportunism and hatred directed by senior GoI officials against Sikhs in 1984."

WikiLeaks released this cable on April 22 this year.

It said PM Manmohan Singh's apology to Sikhs was "for the government's involvement in the 1984 riots", praised him for forcing the resignation of a minister with long ties to the Gandhi family and indicated that Sikhs died due to pogroms directed by Congress office-bearers.

The US believed that the BJP leadership didn't have the power to ask Modi to step down following the 2002 Gujarat riots even after Singh apologised for the riots and acted against Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler following the report.

The cable, signed by "Blake" (Robert O Blake, deputy chief of mission at US embassy between 2003 and 2006), raised doubts over Modi's political career in the section marked "Should Modi Be Worried?" but goes on to say "BJP is in such disarray that the central decision makers don't have the power to force Modi to step down, and therefore he will remain at the helm of Gujarat".

"The swift action of the Congress leadership in sacrificing Tytler and Sajjan Kumar has raised questions about the fate of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi if a similar commission investigating the 2002 Gujarat riots finds his government at fault," the cable said.

While the cable praises Singh, calling his act a sign of "political courage", "momentous" and "almost Gandhian", it exposes the weakness within BJP. "The speed with which Congress forced two of the party's senior leaders to step down and released an apology to the nation, pre-empted BJP and Left party criticism, leaving the Opposition with little ammunition with which to attack the UPA," the cable said.

"The Press quoted a senior BJP MP as saying, the government has not only blunted the edge of our campaign, it has put a lid on it," the cable said.

The questions should be now if the American government believes that Indian congress party has this haterd against Sikhs and took part in state terrorism and genocide against Sikhs why isnt this party banned under anti-terrorist organisation legislation. This would mean any members of that party would have to renounce their membership if they were to travel to the USA or other western nations if motion is passed to outlaw that party by European Union.

I think they would tie the slaughters to independent acts instigated by various Congress leaders rather than a blanket policy of the party probably?

The Americans see and know everything. The problem is that they don't act on events unless there's something in it for them. I reiterate, to claim they are ignorant or unaware is completely incorrect.

One can only hope Akal Purakh infuses the Americans with an insatiable and intense love for Sikhs, so they can come and help us out a bit. :smile2:

Okay, let's say they are largely 'unconcerned' then. As you say, unless there is some material/strategic interest for them, they aren't likely to rock any boat for the Sikh cause. Even more so when they have big investments in India's gigantic emerging economy, which represents a potential goldmine as untapped territory for a capitalist economy.

That's why I always keep saying that we need to rise to positions of prominence. It's not enough to own businesses, drive around in BMWs and Mercs and spend stupid money on our kid's weddings. We need to think beyond the superficial trappings of wealth, and the need to impress our limited circle of friends and our families. We need power. We won't get that in India so it needs to begin in the West (or anywhere else Sikhs are settled outside of India). Political power is also beyond us because there simply isn't enough of us to vote us into office (or attract others to vote for us), because we know how prejudiced people are about folk with turbans and beards, no matter how much they protest to the contrary.

So the next best option? Become champions of industry. Rise to prominence in areas of the arts, literature, sport, etc. Then when we reach those heights, lobby the hell out of the politicians. Grease their palms if need be. Whatever it takes to get things done. Stop faffing around on forums like these accusing each other of not being a good-enough Sikh and get out into the real world, for the love of God.

Educate yourself and always strive to learn something new, and then couple your hard work with the power of Ardaas, Gurbani, etc., and the sky is the limit.

You all severely underestimate the power of Sikhs to rise as we speak there are prominent Sikhs winning huge amounts of votes in not just Delhi but gaining a foothold in Harayana and many other states you have a very warped view of the power of Sikhs to gain power.

There in India most votes are bought and the hindu majority especially the none brahmins would rather see a Sikh in power than a hindu believe me there was even a survey done in India and it is said that the young educated class trust a Sikh leader more than everyone else.

The girls in Mumbai also undertook a survey and said they felt safest with Sikh taxi drivers over all others.

The Americans British and EU are not loyal to the Indians and never will be especially after 1947 when you humiliate a nation like Great Britain it does not matter how long it takes they will always get you back and that is when Sikhs have the ultimate opportunity

Although you say America and Britains interest is only in money you need to understand they have to protect the security of their citizens and country because if we let other countries over take these two in GDP and power and influence you would have a very unstable world

There is nobody the British and Americans would like to see more in power than the Sikhs

Like Pakistan who thought America and britain was their friend they were sadly mistaken these countries ultimately only support freedom despite what many on this board would like to believe which other nations allow you the freedom that the british and america have allowed for the Sikhs if it wasnt for these two countries we would have been wiped out a long time ago

I just want to bring up a very very important point all of the anti british propaganda against the british government using the 1947 Jhalianwale Bhag is a very very clever ploy by the GOI to stop support of the Sikhs by the British that is why they keep it one zee tv ndtv and all other stations in India that is also why you get communists naming their centres shaheed bhagat singh centres etc what nobody realises is the historical data that shows it was a set up by brahmins who reported the Sikhs were planning to overthrow the British that very day therefore setting up the attack

So embrace the West who gave us all of the freedoms to preach and ask for an independent country and I am in no doubt they will support us when it comes to repartition if only to show the hindus who is boss we will just have to wait until indias usefulness runs out and their egos are inflated

Clarity, you just sound like another sycophant.

We need strong, independent minded Sikhs now, not more potential chumchay of other societies.

Dalsingh what are you doing in a western country go back to india and see how you are treated and if you are going to address me as a fellow Sikh then address me with the respect like you expect everyone else to

As for chumchay you will need these chumchay when they (India+pakistan) attempt to stop an independent sikh nation being formed and it is your family being raped and killed

Why are you using the language of these chumchay use punjabi only

You are a hypocrite you are like the pakistani muslims they also hate the british & americans and everybody none muslim look where that has got them

You obviously do not understand guru nanak dev jis philosophy

we must get on with the rest of the world to trade and buy and sell or are you going to live in a vacuum when Khalistan is created

That is indeed if you really want a Khalistan
