They were empires...they were not a unified nation..... An empire is a state with politico-military dominion of populations who are culturally and ethnically distinct from the imperial (ruling) ethnic group and its culture...an empire is basically when one group of people with distinct culture rule over another people with a distinct culture with different traditions....the british raaj was an empire but never a nation...because they ruled over a different people..same thing with those links you just provided....before 1947 there was never a unified indian nation...only a continueous line of empires....india today is also an empire...and it too will break up eventually ...its not a matter of if but when

You can talk aboput Khalistan, not bothered, ground reality India will never partition again, but u of course can try.....

By God do not tempt us...we can set fire to punjab and all major indian cities of india if we are pushed into a corner and threatened with extermination...you think LeT and Indian Mujahideen are dangerous?...you havent seen anything yet...you threaten us with extermination and singhs like jinda and sukha will rise up wherever sikhs are..singhs like shaheed bhai dilaawar singh will rise and seek out the enemies of the panth....we have no issue with anyone...just leave our dharam, language, land alone...give the sikhs their autonomy stated in the anandpur resolution and this will all be settled...but if you seek to destroy us...then prepare for explosives, bullets, dead bodies, crying widows of security forces..etc

Well everywhere there were empires, then nations became.

Well India is a nation in political sense since 1947, even though the will of the majority was not abided as majority did not want evil partition, and wanted to live as is as fellow human beings, but thats done, and hardly unlikely will it be reversed, so India is left as per wishes of majority people, its not perfect but at least its on secular path were all faiths and varying cultures, languages exist, just as we have many different cultures in USA, UK.

IMO India will never partition again, if it were it would have happened by now, but everyone has there own opinion fair enough.

WHo is "YOU" who?

Next who is threatening extermination, who, and how will this happen

How was PM Manmohan Singh elected, where were the protests against a Sikh becoming PM where??

Understand each individual human being is an individual with own thoughts and own individualism, communalism is path of darkside where individuals like to group people and say look them they want to destroy us, grouping all people-bigotry nothing more nothing else.

Many non Sikhs faith people have great respect for Sikhism and Gurujis, and have no interest in destroying or exterminating anyone.

Agree there are just points in the Anandpur resolution, India at this stage has not reached path of proper secularism as yet, the journey is still ongoing.

You implies all those who blindly support the indian state ignoring all its human rights violations and war crimes committed against nations within its territories......PM manmohan lal is not a sikh...he is a puppet for the congress party to appease and pacify the sikhs...how can their be injustice when there is a sikh as PM is what they say lol...you see there are alot of us who dont fall for this rubbish....The indian state after the events of 80s has pumped the punjab with drugs trapping many sikh youth in its clutches...you see how can sikhs rise again if they are addicted and dependant on drugs...you have also sponsored and supported financially deras/fake babas in punjab to draw converts from the sikh community in an attempt to cut our numbers down...this is just a small piece of the problems you have caused....is it not strange that many regions within the indian state are willing to take up arms to oppose the central government...why is it only the hindus or anyone brainwashed by their education system blindly follow india regardless of its opressive policies towards minorities....you see democracy cannot be judged on how the majority treats the majority but how the majority treats and respects the minorities....and india definately does not treats it minorities well....Delhi 1984, Gujrat 2002, Orissa 2008..these are just a few examples...

Lets be clear many people condemn India government human righst abuses.

PM Singh, may not be a Sikh to you, but to the vast majority of India he is, so where were the protests against Sikh being a PM where?

Hindus, ahh the communal game, not all Hindus, or all anyone else think the same do they, or there would only be one party, one language, one culture, but there is not, there are many cultures languages, and parties, and all welcome.

India central governement needs to bring justice to guilty culprits agreed, just as Kashmir Pandit minority has been ethnically cleansed from Kashmir valley whilst they reside in camps, so Indian governemtn has not helped here as well, so yes do agree here

Typical Indians, living off past glories. What do these empires mentioned have to do with modern day Hindustan? The British made India by destroying its industries (foundries/factories of Punjab and mills of Bengal), starving its people (while exporting hundreds of thousands of tonnes of grain/rice etc each year) and burning down its schools and universities to make Indians too ignorant to fight back. When they left they handed the keys to the muslims and hindus...................... but nothing changed. British India = Hindustan =/= Not some jumped up historical empire that may or may not exist. Indian people are still people denied their freedom and face extortion and torture from the paramilitary and army forces that the British set up. It may be 2011, but it might as well be 1911. The struggle for Khalistan is about India being restored to its natural state - A SET OF NATIONAL STATES! Do you see the Brits, Spaniards, Germans etc all tearing down their parliaments and handing power to Brussels? NO! So why should Sikhs be ruled by Delhi? It would take a war to force the British to accept total rule from Brussels. India is a sham, secular my <banned word filter activated>. Doesnt the Mahabharat talk about Hindustanis living on Antarctica? I couldnt think of a better place to stick them.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
