The SGPC has discontinued the practice of allowing devotees to carry “palki sahib” on their shoulders from Sri Akal Takht to Sri Harmandar Sahib early in the morning everyday.

A section of devotees have even complained to SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar. Manjeet Singh, Makkar’s PA, said chief gurdwara inspector Mukhtiar Singh had been asked to probe into the entire episode. He said the practice was discontinued on the orders of the Darbar Sahib manager after the installation of Guru Granth Sahib inside the sanctum sanctorum got delayed by 15 minutes on the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ram Das allegedly due to the devotees.

SGPC secretary Dalmegh Singh said he was not aware of the matter.

Dude what badal has to do with this.. Guru sahib jee arrived 15 mins late because of super rush of sangat who wants to do shoulder sewa of palki sahib. Those who went to darbar sahib during the occasion of B'day of guru ram das ji will know the reason behind such short term ban.

The ban overturned few days after; most probably by getting sangats pressure locally.
