Sis I feel your pain. Been through very similar stuff to you at very similar age still haunts me today. :(

Your situation brings back painful memories of my own.

Learn from this though and take small steps it's not easy but every step counts and from experience I'd say don't tell everyone only your very closest because only very few will help/support you.

It's horrible that our own brothers (singhs) can do this but it happens. Its good you've released he was in wrong; I still walk in denial sometimes because it just hurts.

Keep faith sister

Sorry if i have spoken wrongly

From Dhass

People who do such things are not our brothers. YOU are our sisters, and the entire panth is behind you and will support you. They mean nothing to us. They can rot in prison.

Exactly, was thinking the same thing and plus Gurbani says - http://www.sikhitoth...p?ShabadID=1364

jo hm shrI su mIqu hmwrw ]3]2] jo ham seharee s meeth hamaaraa ||3||2|| whoever is a citizen there, is a friend of mine. ||3||2||

Whoever is a citizen of Saachkhand is my friend, as they are loving, eternal and trustworthy. Therefore, a Gursikh heading towards that way will have some qualities of compassion and care growing inside them (from naam and gurbani abhiyaas) which will become trustworthy and eternal too once Bhramgyan is reached. Those "sikhs" not heading towards Saachkhand are NOT OUR BROTHERS.

This was very sad to read, please dont go thru this on ur own. You need to talk to somebody, then only will u be able to move on properly. Try to contact either sikhyouth helpline, or kaurproject if you want to talk on the phone. Dont be afraid of anything, you have done nothing wrong, be strong and confident.

The hardest bit was coming on here and asking for advice.

Waheguru will help u thru this.

@ Kaljugi.

I thought it didn't happen too. As I was getting closer to Guru Ji I began to admire Singh's like him, little did I know. And more sister's on here are reporting simular experiences. It happens behind closed doors and is not spoken about but the fact it is happening.

Kuljugi I too didn't think these things happened till it happened to myself. Its sad that a minority of singhs can do these things to young singhnees who see them as big brothers. Our singhs need to buckle up because talking from experience when you through this stuff you cut off mentally as it's the Singh who walks around freely whilst you the singhnee suffers in silence as were too scared/frightened to tell family due to shame/ not been understood. Mafi to OP for taking over your thread gurmukho

The problem with some singhnia is that they trust these "Singhs" and think they are "Singhs" just by looking at their image. You are proudly stating this fact. HOW DARE YOU CALL THESE SINNERS SINGHS, SIKHS OF GURU SAHIB! What a joke! Do you even know the meaning of singh? If the singhni is a naam abhiyaasee gursikh then the singhni will know who a real singh is; any singhni who isnt, will assume anyone to be Singh. This world is full of fake/counterfeit and real/genuine people and Gurbani acknowledges this, as stated here:

ਇਕਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਇਕਿ ਖਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਖਣਹਾਰੁ

Some are counterfeit, and some are genuine. He Himself is the Appraiser.

The genuine are placed in His Treasury, while the counterfeit are thrown away.

The counterfeit can never conceal this truth as their Evil Mat becomes revealed to people for what they actually are – animals:

ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਪਸੂ ਕੀ ਮਾਨਸ ਜਾਤਿ

They belong to the human species, but they act like animals.

They curse others day and night.

Outwardly, they wear religious robes, but within is the filth of Maya.

They cannot conceal this, no matter how hard they try.

Outwardly, they display knowledge, meditation and purification,

but within clings the dog of greed.

The fire of desire rages within; outwardly they apply ashes to their bodies.

There is a stone around their neck - how can they cross the unfathomable ocean?

Those, within whom God Himself abides -

O Nanak, those humble beings are intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||5||

-Kaal- obviously you have never been in this situation so doubt you'd understand! Do you want to explain how you expect a singhnee in her early teenage years to know who's a real singh and who isn't?! Your post is partly the reason why some find it hard to talk about such difficult issues as your too fast to judge!!

@lost soul

Thanks Bhenji. I was young and was just coming more into Sikhi. It knocks you down. I guess males don't and can't really understand.

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
