terrible acne, dermatologist claims facial hair related

The facial hair claimed by the dermatologist is only an issue, because this is what they start saying when youv'e tried the meds. Then they look at other simple options, so he will say to one's with beards to shave, or to ones with shaving rash acne to NOT shave every day and just shave once a week !!!

So- this facial hair thing is a point, but a lot of crap. If you wash the hair with soap more than once daily then it can't be a problem.

I wouldn't go in that direction, he's only saying that because he's run out of NHS options !!!!

Just to clarify, I'm not saying not to see a dermatologist, just saying to explore other options other than really powerful acne medicine. Sometimes it can be fixed by making a few lifestyle changes (washing face more with margo soap, exercise and eating more healthy).

All depends.

Yes I know, but that is good realistic advice. We should never stop anyone seeing a health professional, but if you know what the protocols are (as I do, since I used to work in UK), then you know what the 3 month wait for an appointment will result in.- In that time he could use the alternative approach and get some results.

Your advice is the best suggestion by far, and I can vouch for that.

I explained about whta they say about facial hair and when they say it.

drop everything else and use a bar of soap > Daily!

You can't use regular soap, as it contains oils in it. Some have even suggested rubbing oil on the face, but this is conter-intuitive. If his face is already oily, then putting more oil on it won't help.

He should wash his face with acne wash only.

I am a medical doctor although not a specialist in dermatology.

I would always pay attention to what your dermatologist is saying but it doesn't any make sense to say oil from your dhari is causing spots all over your face. It goes without saying it is not acceptable to remove your dhari.

I would suggest:

* Changing pillow sheets daily or every other day - this will prevent oil/bacteria spreading to your face. Do not touch your face generally with your hands if possible.

* Once you are currently not breaking out, attempt **gentle** exfoliation. Gently exfoliating your skin on a daily basis may help with removing dead skin plugging up pores. You must be very gentle however or you will cause damage to the skin and irritate existing spots. Use a very soft microfibre towel or baby brush once a day. Also bear in mind your skin may produce a little more oil. When washing etc normally it is important not to entirely strip all the oil off your face as the body will react and produce more.

* Drink lots of water, exercise and work up a proper sweat. Sleep atleast 6-7 hours a day and keep a regular sleep pattern. Avoid stress. Stress or poor sleep spikes cortisol levels which won't help with spots.

* Some people have found dietary supplements of things such as zinc can help with spots. Try a month of daily 25mg-50mg zinc and see if it helps.

* Do not use benzyl peroxide products. They will bleach your dhari/hair.

Bear in mind everyone is different and something which works for one person may not work for another.

You are still young and it is still quite possible you will grow out of your acne in coming years. It is not nice to have lots of acne but there are people with much worse medical conditions, and even if your acne looks bad to you, others dont notice or care about it as much as you think. You have already mentioned you would find another cycle of accutane difficult - some people do need multiple courses to get it under control.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
