So what do people think?

Do you trust Badal and the Akali Dal?

Would you help out EP Govt?

Is it worthwhile creating programs or investing in EP?

What would you recommend?

It may be worthwhile discussing something like this rather than the things issues like this end up causing. All discussion points welcome.

I wouldn't trust Badal further than I could throw him. And trust me.....I'd like to throw him very far....and hard. And then jump on his head just to make sure some permanent damage has been done.

Badal is the reason 'NRI Punjabis' don't wanna invest in Punjab. He is whats wrong with Punjab. Him now making sweet talk with nri's is like a spider beckoning a fly with kind words.

That's my opinion too. But what are the alternatives for EP then if we carry on with this line of thought?

Badal is a traitor to the Sikh cause and he has been responsible for Sikhi being a mess in Punjab. However, in the last decade both his government and Amrinder Singh's govt did pass some laws which led to many NRIs bring able to take possession their properties which had been usurped by their relatives in Punjab. On a personal note due to help of the NRI sabha many years ago were able to get a drain which had been dug on our land moved off it within a few months even though it had been there since the late 70s. I feel that many people abroad just think they would not be able to get their usurped land back and so give up. They should use their NRI status to get their land back.

While on the subject of land, the land records of most villages are now online which is something positive that Badal has done and you can check or verify what land is still in your parents or grandparents names by using this website

the land record is called Jamabandi.

I've always wondered why NRIs are so keen on owning EP farmland. It's not like they're ever going to farm it and its just seems to make things difficult for East Punjabis. It's not like many NRIs couldnt do with the money invested there either for businesses in the West or educating their kids.

Punjab PWD Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon today claimed that the SAD-BJP government in Punjab was vigorously pursuing the agenda of development. “The state will get a complete face lift in next three years and Punjab will once again become number one state in the country,” he said.

Talking to media persons after inaugurating a Rs 18 crore railway over bridge constructed on Samrala-Chawa Road, he said the farsightedness of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and development-oriented policies of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal will take the state on new heights in the near future.

Dhillon said the government was in the process of bringing about radical changes in the fields of healthcare, education and legislative mechanism while also carrying forward major development projects across the state. “All rural link roads are being strengthened and widened to provide better surface transport facilities to the people,” he observed.

Lashing the Congress-led UPA government at the centre, Dhillon said the Punjab farmers were making a significant contribution to fill the food bowl of the nation, and other sections of the people were also filling the coffers of the Centre by way of taxes.

“However, the centre is giving a step-motherly treatment to Punjab, and revenue generated from the state is being doled out to other Congress-ruled states,” he alleged.

The minister announced a grant of Rs 17 crore for repair of roads in Samrala area at this occasion.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
